ROK has officially retired/Ryan stays a 1 club guy

I can't see it mentioned elsewhere, but I just heard on the radio that Ryan has announced his retirement. The Swans website says he'll be doing a lap with LRT on Grand Final day.

Wonderful, wonderful career. One of my all time favourites.

Probably should have had a poll with just the option.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

    ROK has officially retired

ROH has announced his official retirement from the AFL and will be honoured together with LRT in the GF motorcade. What a champ he has been. Here are the news:

Not unexpected but it is a sad way to see him go out.

ROK told me he was going to become a lawyer. Changed his mind when I told him he had nothing to prove to anyone

            Ryano. Such a champ.

What a fantastic career, what a player. Hopefully he sticks around in Sydney.

I am disappointed for him. It seems he had his heart set on playing on next year. Presumably he's come to terms with the fact he's unlikely to play much senior footy anywhere next year. While it's sad his career petered out somewhat, it has been a great career and one he should be incredibly proud of. He was my favourite Swan for many years and I'll remember his career with fondness.

Great great career for Duck Butt. There are so many great moments but I'll always remember his kick to Nick Davis in the 2005 semi and his Norm Smith winning 2012 GF. I know he wanted to play on (and obviously it took the advice from a few other coaches to convince him otherwise - P Roos?) but I love that he's a one club, two Premiership Swans legend.

Terrific player, one of the group that led us out of the wilderness. Best wishes for his next step.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Obviously his Durex 30 day thing took a lot out of him!! Could not face another long pre season!!

In all seriousness...an outstanding clubman, footballer and bloke. A legend of the club!!! Miss you ROK!

I know it's sad but I'm glad he will now be a one club player. And I will be able to cheer when he goes around the ground in the motorcade.

Very happy that LRT gets to go around too. I was worried he didn't meet the criteria.

Badly mismanaged by ROK. Could have had a farewell game against the Tigers in Round 23, but instead pursued the folly of getting picked up by another club.

But, a champion player. Will go down as one of Sydney's best ever.
