List changes and trade bait

If the Swans see enough development in a former first round draft pick then why not? At this time last year I wouldn't have thought Laidler or Derrickx could improve our list but they've both been handy pickups.Recruiting is all about improving your list.
Given Roosy didn't think he was even worthy of a game, at the lowly Demons. How is Blease going to improve the Swans list?
He maybe worth a punt, at a low ranked club in desperate need of some speed. But I doubt he'd get a look in at the Swans.Twitter @cmdil

Andy Maher on SEN reporting that Ryder will join the Swans and Goodesy will retire.
Wouldn't think he'd be the sort of guy that would run with a complete fabrication, but then again he does work for SEN, so who knows.Twitter @cmdil

If true, better get the mops ready at Eddie's workplaces. His head is going to explode.
It would seem a bit odd to me though. Rucking hit-outs are less significant if you have a hungry inside mid hit squad and the money Ryder would command could be better spent keeping our current upwardly mobile youngsters at the club longer term IMHO.Comment

Bondi Ryder - Great little twitter feed on the rumours

Fair point. Though both of those were brought in for specific roles, to replace the departed Mummy and Mattner.
We have plenty of young pacey types on our list already, so not sure Blease would get a look in...He couldn't get a game under Roosy at Melbourne.
I'm loving these Ryder rumours....For the angst alone.
It wouldn't surprise me if he came to the Swans.
He would look at how others, most recently Buddy, Derrickx, Laidler, have prospered at our great club. Finals footy almost assured...very tempting.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

I would be really surprised if the club signed him as Mike Pyke has just extended his contract and we have Nankervis, Naismith (who I think will develop into a great ruckman) and Derickx. It seems to me that, after nobody predicted that Buddy would sign with the Swans, these so called media experts are hedging their bets and claiming that the Swans will be signing so of these name players. What I am surprised about is the fact that none of these commentators have suggested that Frawley will be signed by the club.Fair point. Yeh good point! But I still think B.Jack and Harry have the toughness to become inside/outside players rather than just speedy wingmen, and the likes of Gaz and Towers are more likely to play on forward or back flanks. I don't think you can ever have too many blokes with elite pace on a list. But like I said he'd have to be really cheap both in terms of dollars and trade value. Just on Blease, does anyone know what his foot skills are like?.
Also, what do people think about Christian Howard from the dogs? delisted former first round pick with a booming kick.
Still wouldn't mind us looking at Pears from the Bombers too.
Apologies for the amount of names I'm throwing up but it's proving to be a good distraction to keep my mind off tomorrow night!Twitter @cmdil

We might as well get used to it: at present we are every player agent's default setting. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

They thought Tippett was going to Brisbane too, the perfect smoke screen

Yes Dew now being touted with Longmire asked about it in today's press conference.
'Longmire said the Swans wouldn't stand in his way if he were offered a head coaching position.'
"A senior coach is different to an assistant coach's role," he said.'
If Dew were to go to Adelaide, I wonder what might follow for O'Keefe? Could make his move to Adelaide more likely. On the other hand, it might open up a coaching position with the Swans. Either with the senior team or through a switch around involving possibly Crouch and/or O'Loughlin?

These are all possible scenarios, but however it pans out I would want to keep Crouch. Purely on the strength of observations from our ressie watchers and what you can get off the Swans site I suspect he may be a successor to Longmire; not in the short term, as I think (and hope) Horse will be around for a few more seasons, continuing to tinker with the gameplan to keep us ahead of the curve. Perhaps a spell elsewhere might be good for Crouch, as it seems to be for Kirk, but if he goes I'd like to see him return.Yes Dew now being touted with Longmire asked about it in today's press conference.

And for those who believe we need to bolster our ruck stocks, what do you think about Giles?
