I disagree on Lloyd - he is still very green, and will learn a lot from the pain of Saturday . I was quite astounded they subbed him on Saturday - he was well in front of a number of other players that I would of given the boot to first. He will, in time, become an elite user of the football and a very fine footballer. One of the few in our team that can hit a target more times than he misses. Absolutely top 22 for me.
Shaw should go - whether he wants to play on or not, the Club should draw a line in the sand as he is not going to get any better - and his ball use was appalling on Saturday.
I'm happy for Goodes to go on - but only on the basis that he understands that it could be like ROK's final season. I do think he could play an exceptionally valuable role as a Substitute however.
They need to decide what Reid is - is he a CHB, is he a CHF, is he a ruckman? Pick one and stick with it - this floating role doesn't work.
I agree that they need to find a place in the 22 for Zak Jones. I know he is raw, but one thing he has is a bit of an 'edge' to him. We are severely lacking in hard nuts in midfield, something shown on Saturday. We need some mongrel - how many times did a Swans player get belted by a Hawks player (they were very physical to say the least) and we had no one really willing to get in there and dish it back to them. I think Jones can help on that basis.
I'm not against Benny going back up to play as a small forward, but he did have a great year in midfield. We are desperate for a genuine small forward to not so much play off Buddy, but to play off Tippett. Whenever the ball hits the ground with Tippett, there is only place its going and that is out of the forward 50. He turns like the Titanic, and is slow as a cart horse. To that point, Tippett only is ever going to be useful playing as FF coming out of the square - and if you are going to play that role in today's game, he needs a midget friend to go with him.
The spine of the defence is a key problem. We won't chase Frawley, but I'd expect we will definitely be active looking for big bodied players in the draft, and potentially looking to find some more Teddy-esque recycled tall timber in the draft. Its a problem area we need to solve sooner rather than later.
