I think if we wanted Jono Marsh we would have taken him with one of our last picks given how low he was drafted...must have some serious deficiencies in his game given how tantalising the highlight reel is!
AFL slaps trade ban on Swans

It's what we do best. The 'restriction of trade' rule for the Swans
I so hope that when we are free to do so, at our earliest opportunity we pull another 'Buddy-esque' move and shove it back up the AFL.
Right now recruiters can be spending all that free time, normally spend inventing way to snag top players, but looking into some brilliant ways of abusing the hell out of the system - within the rules of course
Pridham is a brilliant man who doesn't like Eddie or the AFL commission very much ... he'll find a way.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

Want to know how the AFL get away with it...
So I'm down in Melbourne for a weekend of golf. One of my mates down here is a mad Cats fan, knows his AFL, etc etc.
We were chatting last night when I bought up the ban. A) he'd never heard of it. B) refused to believe it. C) I had to google up some stories on. D) only then, did he believe it but couldn't understand how the afl could do it. He was more outraged than me.
But I'm afraid, our woes get no coverage down here folks.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Sorry but that is just not true. If you regularly read a sports section of either of the main papers in Melbourne ( or watch one of the footy based TV shows other than the footy show) , you would've been aware of it. It got plenty of coverage. Your mate may not know his AFL quite as much as you or he believes. It seemed most people, with the exemption of Hawks fans and Eddie McGuire, were pretty puzzled by the whole thing, and saw the unfairness in it. I had plenty of discussions about it with work colleagues, mates etc all supporters of other teams and who Brough it up themselves without me prompting them.Want to know how the AFL get away with it...

Sorry but fact.
Anyway, my point was - the average AFL fan follows their club passionately, not the mechanics of the game's administration. And as a result, he'd missed it. And as much as he thought it madness, he'll forget about it in five minutes and when it has an effect on our list and performance over the next two-three years.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Good idea, but from memory he was a potential NSW zone selection who turned us down as he didn't want to live in Sydney.
Mark Jamar is on the list - he is a handy ruckman and would be an improvement on what we currently have.Comment

How did it work out well for the Swans? I understand there was some salary cap pressure, which meant that someone of Schneider's ilk needed to be released. But given that we got pick 26 or thereabouts, and used it to draft Meredith, it's hard to describe it as working out well for the Swans.Comment

We also traded our existing pick 28(from memory) for Mattner. How did it work out well for the Swans? So I suppose it depends how you look at it....
The debate could be...Meredith, Mattner and cap space V Dempster & Schneider and a second round pickLast edited by ernie koala; 3 July 2015, 03:11 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Schneider was traded because he didn't embrace the leading teams philosophy and resented feedback from other players. Dempster I think because we had a few of his ilk. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

I cant stand the SEN promo grab they are running repeatedly at the moment. I am constantly hearing Dermie's pearl of wisdom as he makes the comment that he believes that Sydney has spent so much money on Buddy and Tip that we are forced to play players he calls "jobbers" ie, they are cheap and can just do a job. I feel like calling in and reminding them that last year we lost an All Australian defender but for some reason we were not allowed to trade any players in (unlike Hawthorn). This has resulted in us not being able to replenish our list - not the salary cap.Comment
