    This is all nasty madness.

A sentence from the Emma Quayle article:
The club might lose Membrey to the Saints for nothing, given it has secured the rights to three Academy players in the draft.
I don't see how the 2 things are related.

We certainly are not be in a position to end the COLA immediately unless the players involved are willing to take pay cuts, so I can't see that as a viable option.

I've said some very nasty things about Eddie McGuire over the years. In reflection, I was way too kind.

I have nothing more to say. I almost don't want to follow this joke of a sport anymore.

AFL getting smashed by League in ratings. Most money comes from media deals. They want to sabotage NSW football. Genius.

@@@@@@@ them. Seriously, @@@@@@@ them. And @@@@@@@ all the @@@@@@@ing sheep that believe what the media tell them. The next headline will probably read: "Sydney Swans are terrorists, so give up all your rights and we'll protect you."

I used to think the AFL was professional. The AFL is run by the media. Outright tyranny. @@@@@@@ this.
"Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the Swans win pretty."

Yes but what player (s) were the swans trying to trade in??

It is very clear that the AFL got wind of something and decided to crush it, whether it legal or not!

          Maybe a Collingwood players???

If we cant trade in, we should definetly not be trading anyone out. Membrey and whoever else is now a required player.

So I am really confused, if we cant trade does that mean that basically we cant make changes. What if a club wants to give us a player as a swap for one of ours - it is ridiculous. Did we cheat- no - what the hell - we are being punished for being innovative. I knew that twit Gillon was Eddies puppet.

Very clear the AFL has an incompetent and weak CEO!

The competition is falling to pieces, rorting everywhere and blatant victimisation of (non-recalcitrant) clubs.

Clearly the Swans are allowed to be successful but not too successful. Obviously the same rule won't apply to GWS or any other club.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Another thing which doesn't make sense based on the current statements in print. If the COLA is out for the year 2017, then why can't we trade players in during the 2016 trade season as the contract would apply ex-COLA. Why do we have to wait until the end of 2017, when the new arrangements will already be in effect for a whole year. Hopefully there is a mixup in the wording. The AFL and Age article appear to differ in this regard.

I am baffled by how the AFL thinks it can do this. New contracts should be subject to the new rules. But to ban them entirely? And I too am confused about why some rules apply to just us and not GWS????????????????????????????

Out of contract players can't be required. They can just walk

I can appreciate that logic, but we would have had time to work it out. If we knew we couldn't trade someone in then I really think not finding the room for Mal was a mistake.

We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Its ok for Vic (read the GAWKS) the most to rape and pillage bottom teams, at least we have not taken anyone from a bottom club at least none I can think of, Laidlaw was a delisted person Richards wasn't wanted as was probably a delisted player also, so long ago, so Eddie and his cohort pretty boy Newbolt can do anything, looks like Gillon Mc and Mike Fitz just listen to the Vic clubs, we need to fight this the rules as I see them don't stop us until 2017, but we probably wont be going after any free agents anyway at least this year. Maybe Eddie should get his own house in order and Andrew fancy pants should go back to the chardena (I know I spelt it wrong but you get what I mean.) the Gawks have added 2 players from bottom of the ladder clubs in the last 2 years and have just poached one from GWS. Andrew fancy pants add up the players you have brought into Hawthorn over the last couple of years and forgive me if I am wrong wasn't Port low when they poached Borgoyne.

We can only get players via drafting, or delisted freeagents

                              Bring Back Vlad!

I cannot recall anything close to such chaos in the AFL. There seems to be 20 simultaneous scandals going on. Just wait until Essendon's infraction notices are issued. The HUN will have to come up 5 back pages.

Perhaps the next step is to get an injunction to stop GWS from trading in any players while it has COLA.
