I was just remembering when Colless gave the bird to Eddie back in 2002ish and how Eddie threatened back then to go to court if the further draft concessions were allowed for Sydney and Brissie..........and the AFL backed down

      AFL silent on Swans ban
Although the merits of the AFL Commission decision to impose a trade ban on the Swans can be debated, the League's lack of transparency was a concern. The AFL did not announce its decision until it was revealed in a report last Thursday. Surely, football fans, especially Swans supporters, deserved to be informed before the trade period opened.

I just hope if we do manage to win the big dance next year, that some one has the courage to give the AFL a "polite message" on the dais!!!

I can't believe Geelong let go of Taylor Hunt. I thought that he was one of their best new players. Gave us a touch up last year.

All the transparency of a Scott Morrison explanation.

Sliding Doors has got it right. Far more succint than Gill the Dill's gobbledygook.

Yes you have to think there is something wrong when people like Damien Barrett are on the swans side

You know there is something wrong when the AFL really has no answer. Its quite simple really - The swans have been too succesful. How can we stymie that success - take away the very thing they have been very very at good at doing over the past five or more years - trading.

Without being able to trade and without high draft picks it is inevitable they will slide and equalisation will once again be achieved where all of the wealthy melbourne teams are once again successful and the interstate teams squabble to make the eight.

Amazing that Swans hater Barrett has labelled the ban "ridiculous and unfair". I haven't met one sane footy follower who thinks it fair, even those that have been telling me the COLA should go.

Really worried now what damage the V, I mean AFL will do to us next year with our quest to secure Mills and Dunkley. Wouldn't surprise me to see them make it difficult for us to draft either let alone both.

The silence from the AFL after the ban was issued has been deafening, not one single word about why and how. It really looks like an Eddie McGuire idea that HQ has just taken on board without a thought then once it's been issued they've realised it's a @@@@ up but as always, won't admit a mistake. Can only hope it is recinded before next years trading period or we'll be stuffed.

Having Damian Barrett onside is significant as well as a bit of a shock. He gets listened to on a variety of forums and once he has a view on something nothing changes his mind!

I also find it beyond frustrating (infuriating) in fact that there has not been a rational statement from the AFL outlining everyone's concerns (from fans to media to players) that this is a total unjustifiable joke. A club is punished for following AFL rules.

The arrogance of the AFL has simply astounded me. If I did not love the Swans so much...I would almost walk away from the game and I cannot believe I am saying that!!
