Does anyone think it worthwhile starting a petition from Swans Members asking/demanding that the Swans management take legal action against the AFL for restraint of trade? I for one would really like to know why this hasn't been done. From the moment it was announced a week prior to the 2014 GF our team seems to have gone from bad to worse.

I think the Swans know they have a very good case, but it is likely to have little practical benefit. It's more the fact that we have had our salary cap reduced by around 700k over a 3 year period after signing a few players to big contracts. So from a practical standpoint we are not in a position to offer anyone 500-600k a year over 4 or 5 years that would be demanded by the likes of a Leuenberger or Carlisle. In any case, both of those players are tainted to some degree, Leuenberger has missed half his potential games due to injury and Carlisle may still be suspended by WADA. So there really isn't much out there to chase even if we had the cap to fit them in.

I feel the timing and the method of transition of losing the COLA has been harsh and vindictive, but the end result of getting a rent allowance is fair. It was a long time coming.

Everyone knows the trade ban is ridiculous and unfair to all players and teams and an ugly bit of vindictiveness against the Swans. But I don't feel it will have any impact on the quality of our playing group. If there's another Laidler type out there, then the ban cap won't apply. The others, if there are any, are too expensive. I can't see how the trade ban had anything whatsoever to the fact that we got smashed in the centre clearances and contested possessions on Saturday.

Not before time, but carefully argued, restrained and expressed with moderation. I hope the Commission has the perception and wisdom to take it on board.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Can you cite previous examples of moderation and wisdom from the Commission?

Tough words but the VFL bully boys will only respond to actions.

Finey is on SEN at the moment going off at the AFL about the trade ban! Finally someone other than swans supporters that is showing outrage at this decision. He wants the AFL to come out and explain exactly what we have done to deserve the ban and that the excuse it is because of the removal of COLA is rubbish. He also said that the silence from other clubs including Eddie has been poor, as well as the silence from other journalists.

Of course someone called in saying we deserve what we got and that they don't feel sorry for us.

I keep thinking what if this ban was handed to a team like Collingwood or Hawthorn? Can you imagine the outrage?

By the way the article about Pridham's comments on the swans app has a number of spelling and grammar errors which is really poor for a professional organisation.

All the website articles should go to the RWO editorial staff before getting published.

Cannot see anything changing as there is no way the AFL will reverse the decision as that would be admitting they did the wrong thing.

discussion on SENs the crunch, robbo on swans side and I think kingy was too, but Derms only comment was I will play devils advocate and talk about COLA brushed aside questions re Dawks and recruiting of Gibson, Lake, McEvoy, Burgourne, Frawley, and I think I may have missed a couple. Nobody said did the Swans go over the cap which I assume was scrutinized greatly.
Getting sick of derm on Fox as well.

You can add Gunston, Hale and O'Rourke to that list.
