    Who's going to wear No.1 in 2015

Membrey is gone (No.1), R'OK is gone (No.5), Mal is gone (No.9), Tommy is gone (No.17) and LRT is gone (No.30). Meanwhile Jesse?s number is still available (No.18).

There are some highly prestigious and storied numbers available all of which are big boots to fill.

What numbers can we expect from the new boys? Will some of the elevated rookies seek a lower number? Who deserves No.1?

I?d like to see Heeney in RO'K's number, Teddy's little brother in LRT's old number and perhaps Lloyd elevated to BBBH's numerical representation.

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere.

Retire 17 until we pick up our next Irishman ... the only successful Irish recruits we've had (ie who have played senior footy) wore it!

    Retire 5 & 30 for a season as a mark of respect & gratitude

I would be seeing if existing players want an "upgrade" before putting new draftees in there.

Jake Lloyd deserves a single-digit number. Maybe #5.

        X can have 9.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Not sure heeney suits a 9. He seems like a more straight or angular number guy rather than a curvy number. More of a 1 or 17 I reckon. Based on absolutely nothing of course. I think 44 suits Jake too, keep it, make it your own. Allir for the 30, X for the 9.

I can remember on an end of season trip to Adelaide with a group of mates. We were going back to our hotel rooms in our footy gear when a group of women yelled out "hey, what's ya number?" I turned my back to show them No 11. They yelled "No, room number stupid!"

#1 Tom Derickx (can reuse in 2 years)
#19 to Abe Davis (MOL's old number, from Derickx)
              # 5 Tom Mitchell (his old number as a junior)
              # 6 reserved for Josh Dunkley (from Tom Mitchell)
              # 9 Lloyd Perris
              # 18 Heeney (draft pick #)
              # 28 Hiscox (like for like replacement)
              # 30 Naismith (from #35)
              # 35 Xavier (Richards Bros. 25 & 35)
              # 44 Jake Lloyd (it's a good number, like Hanners X 2, and works for Corey Enright).

Not a fan of giving the player a number according to the number they were picked in the draft, Dean Towers has cursed that idea for me. ( haven't given up on towers completely but for a early ish pick as a mature ager he's really offered very little so far )

I'd give Heeney #1 just to remind some of our friends in Melbourne where we think he might have been drafted if it wasn't for our pesky Academy thingy......

I like most of those but agree with Des with Lloyd getting #5, kinda like last year when Jude passed on 24 to Rampe. A sign of recognition of position within the team. But Lloyd could keep 44 and make it his own like Goodes and Mummy (and Enright).

I like both suggestions. ROK did spend time with Jake as a mentor from what I heard. I expect he would see it as a honour to carry on the #5.

Difference being Jude offered up the 24, not the club. Retire the 5 for a year, I say.
