    Transitions from defence

Today I enjoyed our transition work

I liked our angles and posting up inside our defensive 50m arc and getting thru to the midfield

execution into our forward 50m no doubt would have looked better with Reidy, Bud, McGlynn and Tippo making the opposition look a little stretched

I felt that some of our transition rebounding would heve built some serious momentum on the scoreboard also with our key forwards present

i also liked the resting small forward over the top especially the transition with Hannes featuring at FF

No doubt that the execution into the forward 50 would have looked better, but McGlynn & Tippo didn't play, Reid was down back and Buddy was in gaga land. It would have been really interesting to see the rebounding with these players up forward.

Jetta set for running role - sydneyswans.com.au

great to see Jetts given a chance for this role

i remember a year ago when this topic was brought up there were people on this forum that absolutely gave the idea a hammering

        They could still be right

we wont know till after 6 rounds or so

loving our transition work against GWS especially

there is a stack of posting up occurring on our way out of the 50m and I must admit it reminded me alot of the Hawks style of play

If this continues it stands to reason that we may and more competition for the outside type players to feature in the 22..........I think Zac Jones would love this style chip and charge transition footy

PS in the first half how impressive was Lloyd with his decision making coming out of our 50m arc and Jettas run and carry

lots of players in motion looking to go thru the corridor

loving Buddy stationed out wide and then coming across the 50m arc from way out wide looking get on on his left foot ready to hook it in

then the final positioning of this transition with Heeney crumbing and Rohan leading players wide out of the space was just tops !!

His ability to spin out ofa tackle then hit a target from his foot is bloody good to watch, macca like.

this is a game that actually needs to be watched again (der...) when you get home. the close ups of the action were so enlightening. And yes, I have been noticing how Jakey can spin and made decisions in transit that nearly always work.

There is a lot of trust amongst the player, and not a great deal of grandstanding. I have been so impressed with the team driven effort this year, especially amongst the young mob. And the older mob are letting them lead where appropriate.

Who would have thought of connecting Buddy and Heeney as a working link. I sure didn't.

And let me add that there is Nothing better than a Buddy Grin.

I thought Lloyd was the catalyst in the last qtr against the Bombers.
He moved the ball fast and with accuracy out of the back half.

One of Buddy's greatest qualities, at least in my book, is that he clearly enjoys his footy - its great to see him excited on the field and clearly showing plenty of passion.

I agree, Lloyd is fast becoming one of our best distributers and decision makers.

The only thing he lacks, is penetration with his kicks.

He was superb when he came on against the Bombers - made a huge difference, and I think he will be very difficult to dislodge now he is in the 21. His decision making is generally excellent.
