Sam Naismith upgraded as a replacement for Alex Johnson

I see from the AFL website that Sam naismith has been upgraded as a replacement for AJ. Could be under consideration against Essendon if we need two ruckmen. Likely if Tippett is not playing.

I suspect he'll be named as an emergency, at worst, and may get to play if Tippett's not ruled fit. He seems to be ahead of Derrikx in the pecking order at the moment.

Agreed. Would be the main reason for the upgrade you'd think.

Any one really watched him ,i have only see him play a couple of times. Looked fair but doesn't seem to have a leap ?

That would be my impression too about leap. But at 205cm he gets away with that. Could do with bulking up a bit I think

After seasons of relying on the ressie watchers I saw him for the first time at Manuka when we played GWS in the NAB Challenge. I thought he was good, won his share of ball against a couple of pretty handy opponents (I didn't see the stats) and was useful around the ground, took a couple of good marks. Noted more for staying power than speed. I'd be happy to see him keep going.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Naismith is on the way up

he was more aggressive and the kid has talent !

not sure if this season but this is certainly an indication that he is important to the depth of the team as a minimum and who knows from hear as he is finally injury free
