My wife and I are here and looking forward to the game. We would love to catch up with any ROWers here before the game. Any suggestions gratefully accepted for a meeting place.

The Pre-Match Function is this Saturday 11th April, 4.30pm - 6pm at the Cathedral Hotel. $25 I think. Not sure if you can still book as there was a RSVP date

I'd say it would be between Goodes and Heeney, if you use the interchange list for the sub candidates. Towers will start since we dropped Cunningham and need his speed. And Laidler is not the kind of player that can make an impact coming off the bench late in the game.

Logic would have it that the sub would be Goodes, given that he was the one taken off the ground for Lloyd, which can often be an indicator that you are on notice. Heeney was one of our best, while Goodes was closer to our worst. It would also be a good opportunity to see what kind of impact Goodes can make coming in as a sub and could be a valuable player in that position given the stage he's at in his career. It depends on who Longmire thinks needs 'managing' over a long season.

And at least one player need to prepared for omission the following week with both McGlynn and Mitchell get games in the ressies and likely available for selection.

I thought Cunningham should have been left in, with Laidler to go out. I fear Laidler on the big Adelaide Oval may be targeted by Port using the sling shot, and matching him up with forwards with much more pace than him.

Cunningham could have done a job on someone this week with his speed and endurance.

I did not think Mitchell would have been selected this week when Parker came up. I don't need to repeat my theory and I will apologise the minute Kennedy, Bird, Parker and Mitchell are selected on the same 22.

If the Swans get bashed up in the first quarter again (last week and GF) , will Horse give them another Barassi , because in this era it doesnt work , well not immediately anyway with The Swans or any other group of humans.
Maybe reminding them of how good they can be , reinforcing their self belief systems , calming their nerves, helping them release negative energy works better than berating them, making them feel awful about themselves.
Maybe it's just the guided walkabout tour by a very calm and thoughtful indigenous Australian in the Blue Mountains I did today that has me thinking about positive vibes versus negative . He was really excellent .

Maybe he's actually saying that to them but doing so by yelling it in order to get the message home. I'm sure he'd be aware that berating only works once in a blue moon and is a method to shock the players into action. The days of dishing out negativity and criticism every quarter like Barassi did are gone forever.

Without looking too closely at stats and disregarding the grand final last year, we generally start away games pretty well. If we can kick the first 2 or 3 and silence the crowd it will go a long way to winning the game...Port are borderline impossible to stop once they have momentum.
