    Geelong v Hawthorn (spoilers)

Hawthorn clearly in front at half time 61 to 33. All the trademarks are on display: speed of ball movement, backing up and making space, hard at the ball, tight in defence and spread quickly, always someone on hand to take the next pass whether by hand or foot, quick decision making - the list goes on.

Geelong are playing pretty well but not with Hawthorn's precision. The Hawks are looking formidable.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

It'll take an incredible team to beat the Wees and Poos this year on today's showing

I was at the game. Hawks were very impressive but the cats gave them too much space. Have to marvel at the skills of the hawks.

People should be reminded that Hawthorn didn't dominate in possession numbers but by their efficiency. The main stats where they dominated was in clearances, inside 50's and contested possessions. Tackles count was similar for both sides, so the team that wants to beat Hawthorn will have to manned them up one on one to stop quick delivery to their forward line. Perhaps opposition teams should study 2014 PF between Hawks and Port where Port nearly beat them. Of course if you have a team with good skills to do that.

You need not only a team with good skills, but some decent umpires as well, which sadly Port were lacking that day :P
