Birdy does several jobs but Tom is a really different player, in and under player and can sneak a few goals. Unfortunately I can't see all 4 playing together and JPK and Parker are elite. If the other 3 play Towers or Cunningham are the next player to come in. Birdy is limited with speed and height, but a massive heart and commitment but the team becomes a bit slow. McGlynn tagging Selwood was really good and Birdy role is gone. Going forward, Birdy won't get a game unless one of the 3 are injured or rested or Tom plays 3 or 4 stinkers in a row..
100% spot on. McGlynn nailed his tagging role last night and has done so in the past. Looks like Bird will only got a spot if there is an injury as you stated.

Yup. Clearly four inside midfielder extractors is one too many. ;-)

Seems to me I have heard that before from another poster that shall remain nameless.

It was a stroke of genius to play McGlynn on Selwood. Short of bringing a shovel there is no way Selwood could duck low enough for Ben to get him high so that was about 10 frees per game neutralised.

Mitchell has been great but he tends to rush his disposals at times, where he has not needed to.

I agree about him rushing his disposals but Saturday night he seemed to be more composed than in previous weeks.

I really don't like that about Selwood. He is an exceptional player, but as soon as he feels any contact ... maybe a stint in the A-League might really showcase his diving abilities?

That was an interesting side-piece in the TV coverage when they showed frees for (maybe frees for head high, can't remember) and it was something like:
                    1. J Selwood 266
                    2. A.N. Other 146
                    3. J Bloggs 120

Although A.N.Other was in fact Adam Selwood.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

                      It was head high frees.

The tactic of raising the arm as soon as tackles, often forces the tacklers arms to slide up to the neck, getting a free.

So the concept of penalising the head high tackle more, is that more tackles become head high, endangering players. Selwood's likely to sue the AFl later in life for his head injuries.

The umpires need to not pay free's where the tacklee's action (lifting the arm) causes head high tackles. It would stamp it out in an instance.

AFLCA votes: Round seven - AFL.com.au

                            10 Parker
                            6 Franklin
                            6 Hannebery
                            4 Mitchell
                            3 Kennedy
                            1 Jetta

                            Obviously Parker scored 2 x 5.

                            Couple of other possible combinations

                            Buddy (or Hanners) 4/2
                            Hanners (or Buddy) 3/3
                            Mitchell 0 / 4
                            Kennedy 2 / 1
                            Jetta 1 / 0

                            or

                            Buddy / Hanners 4/2 (2/4)
                            Mitchell 3/1
                            Kennedy 0/3
                            Jetta 1 / 0

So do we think that Longmire gave Mitchell a vote?

At least he got recognition from one of them.
He had a good solid game.
