Clearly the experiment with four inside midfield extractors was deemed to be a failure.

Interesting the ex-Swans - Armstrong in but Membrey dropped. And I see Jed Lamb's plan to get more senior game time at the Giants is still going ahead in leaps and bounds. Even Mal was ear-marked to be dropped if he hadn't hurt his knee.

Their form has been worse than Bird. Either Kizza is still injured or out of form but he used to be one who get the ball from "inside" and move with it the "outside" with a few deft steps and handball/kick. I haven't seen/noticed that great facet of his game come back yet. Maybe he is being tagged.
I suspect he is still carrying a ribs/ rib cartilage injury ...Simillar to last year, he's just a little off his 'terrier like' best.

How long has it been since Kizza has been 100% ? it seems like a long time now since he really had any mongrel and played a full 4 quarters.

IMO, the only effective role for Goodes is sub.

Mitchell has just moved up the pecking order, at Birds expense. He was one of our better players last week, so well deserved.
No-one is a bigger Goodesy fan than me but I have seen nothing this year to refute the suggestion he is playing a season too long. I am still glad he has played on because that game last September was NOT the not note for him to bow out on....

Still I fear he is borrowed time and I suspect Shaw is. You'd back Bird to come back but he could well be under threat.

Very glad to see Mitchell in and hope he stays in for the rest of the year. I'd get Zak Jones in there asap too...

He was apparently back to his best in pre season, according to all reports, but he did get that stretching tackle where his ribs landed on the other guys legs against GWS, so I'm suss on the ribs too. Really bad luck if that is the case, as it took him so long to get them right in the first place.

I thought KJ was playing much more like his old self in the first few rounds, certainly better than 2014.

Good too see that they are following through on the plan to get more game-time into Benny and making him play twice in the weekend.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

He came 4th in last year's B&F - behind the "big 3" of Buddy, JPK and Parker. Suggests the coaches thought his season was pretty reasonable.

Cunningham and Towers to play reserves tomorrow. Bird will be the traveling emergency

Would be great if Harry can dominate and find some real confidence...his running and kicking could be weapons for us.

Excellent point - looking at KJ's stats, his disposals, tackles and scoring was a bit less last year than the previous two years [der kind of obvious things that I might notice], but his 1%ers and marks inside 50 were up.

But no real idea why I though he was down a bit last year, beyond my dumbness.

My understanding was he was suffering from bruised/damaged ribs from the start of the season.

Yep, I think I knew that and then watched him with my confirmation bias bifocals on, when he was actually performing a slightly different role pretty well.
