Pathetic to see the Roos supporters booing Goodsey after the players calling for it to stop.

No disrespect to Goodsey (and MUCH disrespect to Ed-turd McChins) but I'm not a fan of the "honorary doctorate" ... to me it devalues the work of PhD graduates who spend 3+ years devoting their life to their area of expertise. Admittedly, to those who understand honorary docs, they are not comparable to PhDs & the vast majority of tertiary institutions prohibit hon docs from using the title of Dr, but most lay people would have no idea about the difference.
I'd be interested in any RWO PhD holders' opinion on this.

Surely everyone knows the vast difference between an honorary doctorate and the real thing?

This week the TV microphones are picking up the cheering over the top. In that second quarter it pretty much drowned out the booing.

Yes and there's a real difference between many PhD's too. Some are based on real research and often major scientific break throughs, while others are self indulgent puff.

The look of hatred on the group of fat young North Melbourne supporters (you know, where they are pretending to cry, insinuating Goodes is a cry baby) made me very sad. How can this be funny or acceptable? It's a mob mentality with a nasty nasty undertone...

In the after-match summary the commentators claimed Goodes went over and remonstrated with some of the Nth Melbourne supporters. I don't care if he did - but is it even true?

Totally agree. I find it disturbing that anyone could find this behaviour acceptable. Nothing to do with good-humoured banter.

When Goodes had that shot in the last quarter that Tippett marked he turned to the crowd and waved his hands at them thinking Tippet took the mark - unfortunately Tippett was pinged for hands in the back so Adam did look a bit silly when he had to run off and try and chase his man - media trying to make it bigger than it was

They would've been crying for real after the final siren while Goodesy was all smiles.

I feel quite disappointed for Jack Zeibell who believed that North supporters had more class than other teams' supporters. Clearly its still a work in progress.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Yes, a bit disappointed for Ziebell and also disappointed for those North supporters who had the integrity to raise the issue on social media and put forward the view that booing Goodes was wrong and that they wouldn't be doing it. That being said, it did seem that the booing was more small scale, with most of the North supporters not really interested. Which meant that they were generally drowned out by the cheering Swans fans.
And as for the more fanatical and probably racist booers, well, while they obviously think that they're making some sort of telling point by howling at a champion individual, what the TV images of their frenzy reminds me of, is just how much of our DNA we actually share with chimps.

For sure. I try to remain positive about human potential, but this kind of thing really tests that position. It's amazing how easily some people are led. How difficult it is for them to think for themselves. Thankfully we can be assured that the achievements of one A Goodes in a single game of football will far outweigh anything these sad folk will achieve in their lifetimes.

Certainly the booing wasn't as pronounced as it has been in recent weeks. Promising, but may also have been attributed to North's smaller fan base. Ultimately the cheering drowned out the negative racist crap, which was beautiful to hear, particularly the 'Goodesy' chants. Hope they become a standard for the remaining fixtures.
