Derrickx was good around the ground, but bad in the ruck, particularly in the centre. Tippett- good in the centre, but made some horrendous decisions around the ground.. He was just muscled off one contest in the last quarter...he's such a big man, that shouldn't be happening...

But that's what Richmond did. Their tactic was to physically monster the Swans, the umpires refused to protect our players, and the Swans just folded.

At one point, two tigers players were blatantly illegally attacking, I think Parker, the umpire was literally a metre away and just did nothing...nothing..Physical pressure is fine, and Richmond won that game, but when the umps refuse to protect the players from injury, that's a totally different thing. And the umpires did NOT protect our players tonight...

I'm pretty angry about the whole farcical situation...

It looked to me in the 3rd quarter that we quickly ran out of legs. Coming off a bye; mmm. Richmond played the same last week. I guess some clubs just don't do the bye well. The midfield simply went missing. Hanners must have been on the bench all the 3rd quarter. Worst disciplined game I have seen from a Swans side since the mid nineties. And Goodes appeared to lead the charge. A rubbish attitude tonight.

I thought Jack was the only midfielder to play a genuine 4 qrts. Parker was ok and Kennedy had a go towards the end but...they got done like a dinner by a couple of quality mids. By the way who was on Cotchin in the 3rd stanza.

Mitchell had a howler. 3 kicks 7 handballs.
Cunningham my old mate was not interested in contact. He was timid to say the least for the whole night. Surely Hewett and Jones are better options than him. He fails every time when the heat is on or we play a better team. A dead set soft rooster.
Jetta went missing very quickly. And you wonder why.
Reid did a bit in the last quarter but boy is he hesitant when he has the footy and made poor decisions. Finally we should say he is over rated.
I am a fan of LLoyd but he was very erratic and has developed the habit of turning back into an opponent. Too much finessing. Just move it on. Great with his disposal when not under pressure.
Rampe played like he was on the turps for 2 weeks.
Smith's kick for goal really gave them the break they wanted. Lamentable, unforgiveable.
Jones, yep he probably gifted them the game but when he had the footy he was very poised off half back. Will they have the balls to replace Shaw with him, because Shaw looked so slow.
Goodesy had his mandatory short pass brain fade in the first half then decided on a sabbatical in the second half.
Rohan looked like he was going take the game by the scruff of the neck, but again only goes for a half. Doesn't appear to have a tank. Like Reid, over rated.
Again Laidler was our best backman.
That loss has been coming for a while. We have allowed bottom sides to stay in the game and we have looked in second gear, or were we. A team comes to town with some quality players and takes it up to us, and we fold. We looked really slow and old in the second half. Look at other sides; they have been getting senior games into young players and it is paying dividends. Lets hope the horse hasn't bolted for us.
All I can hope is that it was poor player management with the bye.

Really disappointing. How so many players can go missing is a half of footy... In reality we haven't played great footy for most of the year, but have still managed to chalk up wins. This game is gonna be a turning point for our season, it's just a matter of which direction it sends us in... Jack, Hanners , Rohan ( for a half) your excused. The rest of you, detention! Shaw, expelled!

Highlight of the night was the wonderful Nick Davis running after the cars and giving his old teammates a handshake and then giving Barry Hall a hug ....sweet memories of 2005 and that night against Geelong at the SCG..I thought the stands would fall into dust that night, the noise was so loud...

Hoping for similar memories next Thursday....

Nico wasn't cunningham playing on Houli? Thought he did his bit.

Our first half was great and if not for their 11 1st qtr frees the game would have been even more buried at half time.

We may have lost to Richmond in 05 and 12 (mcg too) but I believe we got more holes in our list this year. Ruck and backs are the obviois.

Teddy showed his age tonight in a very poor individual performance, it hurt to watch. Rhyce has been shocking most of this season. Our defence gave away plenty of unforgivable inside 50 marks and Riewoldt was absolutely loving life. We rebounded well in the 2nd quarter but after that we could hardly get the ball past the center square, I don't know what the I50 stats were in the second half and I am not sure I want to.

All I can say is that at the ground, the Buddy incident didn't look so bad as it does in replay after slo-mo replay, which is what we'll be getting all weekend.

Totally ran out of legs in the last. I wonder about management over the bye. Thought that was more concerning than all the silly stuff.

Equally for me at the ground the Tippett incident didn't look as bad as it does on the replay. It was late and clumsy not deliberate but that might not help him.

Longmire looked pretty devastated in the press conference. As did Shaw in his video interview in the rooms. We are not the only ones who are shattered.

Hate the game after a bye, and I hate Richmond games.
Only positive this week is that Collingwood loss.

As for Nico's post, I agree with most of it.

Mitchell wasn't playing like someone who has been struggling to get in the team.
                    Cunningham, I though was ok.
When we traded White, at the time I said I would have preferred to keep him and trade Reid. I saw more in White than Reid. Time has proven them both to be equally over rated. As I have been saying for a while now, Reid is not backman. If there is no room in the forward line - trade him.
Was a shame Jones was the sub.

One big thing from tonight for me was that I felt I was seeing the end of Shaw's career. He will be the O'Keefe of 2015. Sad, but he is getting worse.

Pyke vs Derrickx - at the moment I'd like to see Derrickx have another game, but he was mostly average tonight.

                    Tippett is fine.
Buddy is off for a week.

Shame the players couldn't do it for the 2005 team

I thought that the second quarter was as well as they have moved the ball all season. Players were presenting and kicks were mostly hitting their targets. The drop off between the second and third quarters was as bad as I can remember (though you only have to go back to the last game, against North, to see a similar trend - if North had converted the way Richmond did today, we'd have lost that game too).

Jack gets a pass mark from me. Some of his clearance work in the first half was terrific, and he kept trying for the whole game. Parker was good in spurts, and I'm prepared to give Rohan a pass mark too, even though his second half possession count was largely non-existent. He was at least chasing and laying tackles - shame most of his team mates were just standing around watching.

I like McVeigh. I think he's a good, skilful and clever player. But boy, when he's off, he really is awful. His complete lack of intensity in the second half stood out even amongst his 15 or so team mates who were similarly lethargic.

Derricx is just not up to it - if pyke is still out next week id bring nankervis in and let tippett lead in the ruck -he is just awful in the ruck contests at afl level.

Just got back to canberra after a very long trip home - such a disappointing 2nd half from the boys. Well played for the tigers in the 2nd half, where their effort meant pretty much every 50/50 situation seemed to pan outin their direction. We had the game under control at half time and got punished for a lazy, sloppy and pathetic second half performance.

Next week is a huge danger game now - we must win or our great 1st half of the season will count for nothing.

That is entirely the wrong basis for that conclusion. Our game plan was clearly based on Reid having more hit outs. From very early on it was Derrickx to wrestle maric with Reid jumping over.

At the game the issue seemed to be that

                                1. The umpires chose this week to become very whistle happy on the ruck contest

                                2. Our midfield seemed to be playing for them to win the tap and so Reid kept tapping it to further contests.

                                3. They by contrast had the belief they would win it and were moving into dangerous spots.
