You see, when we won in 2005 I bought every bit of memorabilia going - right down to one of those bottle openers that plays "cheer cheer" for each bottle. And, of course, I have a "2005 Premiers" scarf. In 2006 I wore it to three games and we lost each one. So I stopped wearing it and we went back to winning.

Friday was the 10th anniversary of THE FLAG so I dug out my 2005 membership cap - and the bloody Premiers scarf. I dithered but thought "Nah, that's just superstition. And it was a decade ago anyway." During the first half I was comfortably warm in the scarf and the inner glow of an almost certain win. By the end of the game the scarf was hiding under my jacket in shame and there was a chill all over the ground. I think the scarf even may have tried to trip Nick during his shot in a goalwards direction. It's back in the closet again now, never to reappear on game day.

    My apologies.
Oh Go Swannies, the truth comes out about what happened on Friday Night

Cursed items (Such as the 2014 members cap for me after what happened on that day that shall never be talked about again) disappear into the back of the cupboard, never to see the light of day again.

Go Swannies, it wasn't your fault. I confessed to my girlfriend. I said I had intended to wash my Swans boxers during the bye weekend. They'd been worn as PJs throughout the winning streak. I figured a wash during a round when they weren't playing wouldn't have disrupted their good fortune inducing influence (after all we weren't playing) and would have freshened them up to continue the winning streak. I forgot to wash them. My girlfriend said she noticed they'd been banished to the laundry basket (as is tradition after a loss) & so to the back of my Swans boxers PJ rotation. Hope the next pair bring us some luck!

      My apologies

But in regards to things football. Buddy's one week was about one or two weeks less than I was expecting. I had no idea how the Tribunal were going to judge Tippo's indiscretion, anything from nothing to three weeks wouldn't have surprised me. So, I guess that I'm reasonably pleased with one week for each. Or I was until I noticed that Gordon got nothing.

Father Stevo here, to Go Swannies and goswannies, the confessional is now closed. You are forgiven. Ten 'Hail Buddys' from both of you should do it........

Is that one of those "bomb it high & long passes" into the forward line hoping Buddy will take a strong mark & convert?

I think this calls for a chart Numbers in bars are win/loss/draw. Makes you realise that weekday footy is a relatively recent thing.

Damn you Go Swannies, why oh why did you have to tempt fate. Considering the occasion I was going to do exactly what you did, then thought no, I remember the first 2games of 2006. There is a reason that scarf is in the back of the wardrobe and you go completely over the top by bringing it out on game day AND matching it with the 2005 members cap. For Gods sake man have you completely lost the plot. Next I suppose you will also be confessing that you had the 2005 members keyring attached to your car keys, as a celebration of the occasion. Is there no end to your destructive nature.

                      Don't ever do that again.

I think its time for a change at the end of the year. At least more then once every year our leaders fail. I am not worried about winning/losing if the effort and leadership is at the top level, but the 2013 PF vs Freo, 2014 GF vs Hawks, and 2015 Rds vs Bulldogs and Tigers, Freo were flying, but today Mc Veigh stated that" Swans let down by the leaders against Tigers". We can't have another game this year or a final with that reason. We have had a great ride but sometimes you have to change direction and fly under a new flag, Luke and Dan are the men we need.

He said the same after the GF too. Time for a change, McVeigh always disappears when the going gets tough.

it is starting to sound like a familiar tune, isn't it? I like McVeigh off half-back, and I think that Jack has recovered some form in recent weeks, but neither looked like stepping in and
taking the game by the scruff of the neck on Friday night when it was on the line.

Still, I'm looking forward to how they'll bounce back on Thursday.

Have people forgotten McVeigh's efforts this year against Hawthorn?

True, what else. Have a look at Selwood or Hodge. Selwood dragged them over the line last year about 6 -8 times. McVeigh is a wonderful human being and a true professional player but is not an action leader like Kelly or Kirk even Jude, who wasn' t captain. Its easier to follow with a leader into a game with fire in their heart with the motto "Half a league, half a league, half a league onward, all in the valley of Death rode the twenty two", sorry Tennyson, words mean something but actions speak forever.
