    New Wizrad Cup rules

Have to say I really like most of the new Wizard Cup rules and I think some of them would be useful in the normal season.

    - Extra circle for ruckmen. This should improve the ruck spectacle, with players controlling their leap more and with more chance of actually getting a hit out, rather than simply leaping wildly into each other. More importantly it should reduce the risk of long-term injury to the ruckmen. The circle probably needs to have its radius increased by about 1m though. This rules could easily be used in the regular season.

    - Scoring. I like the 9 pointers as they add an extra degree of excitement to the game and the 3 pointers stop the boring aspect of handballing over the opposition goal line, thus keeps the game flowing more. Very unlikely this could ever be used in the regular season.

    - Play on off the post. Again this keeps the game flowing and thus more exciting. No reason why this could not be used in the regular season.

    - Throw-ins moved in from the boundary. A good idea to reduce the number of throw-ins, which make the game dull, and thus keeps the game flowing. Could be used in the regular seasons.

    - No mark if kicked backwards. This is a good idea to stop the dull aspect of the game when players hold up play kicking it around. Could be used in the regular season.

    - A mark in the goal square shoots from directly in front. This just makes sense and could easily be used in the regular season.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you want a faster game with fewer "dull" stoppages, why not surround the ground with glass?

And wouldn't it be exciting if everyone had sticks?

And we could make the ground smaller so there's less of that boring running-around-unchecked nonsense.

Wow, I'd struggle to think of a better way to waste your time than that load of drivel...

If you thinking passing a comment and having a view on something football-related, that isn't necessarily about the Swans, is a waste of time, then you are a bigger fool than you first appeared...

Try and keep it civil if you can.

The only rule change I'd like to see made permanent are:

                * kicking backwards being play-on BUT only in the defensive HALF (not just outside attacking 50 as-is now). Reason: imagine - player 51m out on boundary, centres the ball to 55m out. It's play on cos it's now 4m further out (therefore backwards) yet there is NO time wasting and ur actually penalising an attacking move.

                * goal-square straight-kick-for-goal. Good idea, not before time. Why penalise a guy for marking 2m off centre, 1m from goal? He'd be better off 10m off centre 10m out. And this would stop the farcical situation as played out in Brisbane last year by Lynch (and he wasn't the first. I remember SImon or Justin Madden doing it too. Or was it Salmon?).

The other rules are gimmicks. Maybe a 50m centre square instad of 45. But then the SCG square would encroach inside 50m.

Oh - and in Wizard Cup the 50m 9 point goal should be 45m. EVeryone can shoot a 3pt basketball, NOT everyone can kick a 50m goal. But everyone CAN kick a 45m. All teams/players should have the opportunity, not just the Roccas etc (especially a set shot). Or maybe 45m for a set shot (man on mark remember!) and 50m for running shot? Nah - too confusing.
