    Best Backmen

On the AFL website, all done by stats, and choosing a key defender and a small. Guess whose ours are, and I'll be surprised if very many get it right.

Department of defence: Who are your team's best backmen? - AFL.com.au
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

    Guessing Reg and McVeigh.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Reid and McVeigh. Just watching the games, one on one, Grundy and Rampe. Kicking within in defensive 50.....hard to select anyone but Reid!!

If they are selecting based on the criteria of number of goals per 120 minutes of course it's going to turn up the part time defenders! Not exactly rocket surgery

Not to mention the fact that even when Reid has played down back, it's generally been as a loose man or on a lesser forward. He's not been playing on Roughhead, or Walker, or Kennedy, or Shultz, or Pavlich, or etc etc

At the risk of starting a riot on here, our best defender this year has been Reg. Simple

I am with you. I never thought i would agree that Grundy is our best backman this year after being in the 'whipping boy club' for a while.

Are we just starting a melee but if a few more agree i think it would then grow into a riot.

The AFL website pumps out some pretty redundant content, but this story was inordinately spurious.

Seems pretty clear to me that it's Grundy, Rampe.

My initial thoughts too would say Rampe but I actually think Laidler and Reg are our best currently. But then again Smooch barely gets noticed so he must be doing something right.

Using that criteria, Reid is the number one key defender in the comp
