4th quarter was inspirational, but the previous 3 were absolute drivvel. Too much handpassing and meaningless overpossession combined with our poor skills.

The Bloods emerged when needed for about 10 minutes and did what was necessary. Terrific effort by the team, despite their awful handling and running the ball into dead ends. I think Brandon has grabbed a spot with both hands, and it was reassuring to see a genuine, hard-tackling, fast running goal sneak pop up when he was most needed.

Yes, we still have problems, especially a few who seem to have lost form and become error-prone; I'm thinking mainly of Nick Smith who seems to have taken over from Rhyce the job of kicking to the opposition, and the horrid disposals from Hannebery. Mitchell looks right at home.

And as someone said earlier, how good it is and what a difference it makes to have a fit Pyke back on the field, as well as a reasonably fit Rohan. Gee they made a difference.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Good win in the end. We need to stop handballing backwards to players under pressure and learn to hit some targets going forward.
          Hope Parker is ok.

We went the other way tonight. Instead of the insipid super slow footy of so much of this year, we tried to play on at every opportunity tonight, whether the game was there to take it on and play on or not. Coughed it up so many times because we were consistently trying to play on when not really appropriate.

Don't know how we won that. That was a gutsy effort in the end. I think this is the third time this year we have come back after losing players to injury.

The inclusions of Rohan and Pyke were crucial.

Mitchell was fantastic. I was impressed with B Jack.

Interesting that McVeigh said in the interview that the ball was touched so it shouldn't have been a goal!

I get heart failure when Heeney flies for a mark. Every time he lands I think he is going to get injured.

So worried for Parker. I hope it isn't broken but it doesn't look good. We don't have luck with our younger players.

No doubt in my mind that if the game had been played at Homebush we would have lost....
Thank goodness it was played at the SCG!

McVeigh said he was yelling 'I've broken something' on the field - so doesn't sound good.

Just pretty much confirmed that on Seven...he's gone to hostpital, and Mark Stevens says there's a resigned look on Swans staff that it's season over.......

I don't understand why McVeigh would admit to that???? I still remember the fremantle game when we had two goals that were not allowed, though the video replay confirmed they were actually goals.

The midfield has covered over many cracks......if it is confirmed I think we are making up the numbers in September.

The captains were really good tonight. Really wanted it and influenced the game in the second half - McVeigh with calm and intelligent possessions (reckon he had the most kicks by a Swan in the second half) and Kieran with excellent run. Mitchell's best game of the year, Brandon's best ever game. Grundy very good again, and Jetta had a rare good last quarter. Gary was important with few touches and will get better. Pykey encouraging.

If we play with the intensity and desire shown in the last quarter, we're still some chance. Maybe it's a boost of confidence we need. It seems unlikely, but there's a pulse.

Why does Dermott keep going on about that we traded Mummy to fit Tippett in the side?? Mummy actually left the year after when we got Buddy! And his comments about Tippett not being worthy of carrying Mummy's bags was unnecessary.

One thing that Dermott was right about was Hanners efforts when he doesn't have the ball.
