Pity the umpire missed Hiscox getting kicked in the head right in front of goal!
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

McClaren has been awful all season. Can't take a mark. Should be delisted.

We deserved to lose, but the umpiring was so biased.

Thought Hewett and Nankervis were outstanding. Mills, Bird and McGlynn all needed the run. Xav was good in defense. Most of the toppies are better than previous years.

Must reluctantly agree. The toppies were more reliable.

You would have to say that Apsley played the better game on the day but if Davis and Rosey had been in, I think they would have provided that extra bit of experience that the Swans needed. Has McLaren got what it takes to have a future in footy? Up forward he is a liability at the moment.

McLaren seemed to have a Benjamin Button type season. Started off with a bang but regressed as the season went on and I think in real danger of not being kept on

I agree. His set up and approach to the marking contest is soft. He was recruited as a KPD but we needed a tall target in attack. That may help him but... I am disappointed in his effort. He does not hit the packs and he just fumbles the ball to the ground, he has no ground skills to speak of so I think he might be heading out the swinging door.

Hiscox was ok today but still needs to work on some of his disposal. I thought even our experienced players butchered or just kicked the ball randomly too often. Hewett is good, Mills will be, X, Aliir, Hebron again and I like the look of young Osborne. I see today why Marsh is highly rated at this level. He is pretty strong on his opponent and does clear the ball out well. Still might be a victim of the cut though as he has been on the list for so long without a game. I think the doubt on him is, will his game translate at the higher level?

There would only be one player vying for a spot in the seniors from this team and he was reasonably quiet for this level, Benny. Aspley held onto him all day and he should have got plenty of free kicks and didn't. I think he had the @@@@s at about half way through the third and I don't blame him. Umpiring was disgusting. I do think the AFL want a Queensland and a NSW/ACT team in. In other words if GWS make the GF the AFL would be hoping to get a Qld team in one way or the other. It keeps the comp viable in both states. The other thing is they would be trying to help the local team as opposed to the AFL Reserves team, no matter who they are, to win the GF if they can to keep interest in the local teams. If the AFL Reserves teams won every year the comp would be dead and buried but I don't see how that could happen with only 16 listed players allowed to play.

There is a young bloke they are talking about called Michael Hartley. He was de-listed by Collingwood, they took him as a NSW Scholarship player, he has become the best FB in the VFL apparently. If we can trade we might like to look at him as a mature player.

I think there is a fair amount of talent in reserves. X, Marsh, Melican and Aliir as defenders played well. Mills trying to get his touch back. Bird is our best midfielder. Hewett was good and I do like Foote. Benny never got going. Nank might make it. Derickx isn't. McLaren is our youngest player and will takes years to know if he is good enough.

As individuals I think we have enough going forward. Do we having enough coaching with the game evolving. Not even close.!

Agree with the comments on McLaren, his marking looked poor and really needs a big summer if he wants to make a career out of footy. That's if we keep him of course. He certainly doesn't look to have the hands to be a forward so will need to get his speed and strength up to try and hold a key back position.

You know who should definitely be out the door? This blog and the people that persist on it. What a tribe of knowledge. What a tribe of support.
Reach around and pat your own backs. You have surpassed yourselves, in spirit and otherwise. I will end by saying, "GO SWANS!" Well done getting into the top four. As for the bloggers that blog the "talk-talk." We need some more voices. A small handful is not enough for balance and good view. Good luck next year to the NEAFL players. I, for one, desist to exist.

And thanks again to ugg especially, and everyone who chips in with info and opinions.
