    Rhyce Shaw

OK , he did not reach the same stellar heights as his fellow retiree , but he knuckled down when he came to Sydney , was twice r/u in the B&F and was a huge part of our 2012 Premiership.
So Rhyce Shaw, too , richly deserves a valedictory thread.

He got his own nickname from us in Bay 7 : we thought he looked like he was from the Middle East and greeted his dynamic rebounds with appreciative cries of "Ha-beeeeb!!"
Which was a bit childish , but hey , the footy's the last place where we grown-ups are "allowed" to be childish , isn't it?

Rhyce , you are a Red and White Immortal. From the bottom of my heart , I thank you for your MASSIVE contribution to The Cause which is the Sydney Swans South Melbourne Football Club.

And I salute you. WELL DONE and GOOD LUCK for the future , Habib !

I suspect Rhyce has plenty more left to give the Swans as a footy club. I can see him joining the staff as a development coach, maybe as soon as next season. One of my fondest memories of him will be the many occasions, when injured, he'd stand on the side lines of reserves games barking out advice and encouragement to the young'uns, and patting them on the back as they ran off the ground.

Fantastic clubman who by all accounts has had a massive impact on the culture of the club.

I'll miss watching Shawy coming out of the backline and spraying the kick , but in all honesty has been a terrific servant of our club and am going to miss his run and dash out of the backline.

Congrats on a great career mate.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Brave and dashing footballer. The way he split the Freo defence was brilliant and quite typical - we won't worry about the kick that followed! Wonderful bloke to have around the club, on several levels and I agree it would be good for us as well as very fitting if he stays on in some capacity.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Why did Collingwood let him go, thanks Eddie a leader on the field, who was respected by the players, opposition, coaches . Just another reason why Sydney is like it is !

Good on you Rhyce, loved it when you had the ball, making defenders look as silly as drunken sailors .
You covered ground like a hare, were a fantastic role model for the kids , became a total blood and made a terrific contribution to the Swans.
Thank God you got out of Bleak city , don't go back there, ever.
Congrats on a wonderful career in THE GAME.
              With best wishes

Took the words right out of my mouth liz. He's a natural teacher. And that foghorn voice from the sideline !! The boys all have a mancrush on Rhyce and there is a reason, he may not be the greatest player of a generation, but he is the glue in a team on so many levels.

Love him, mostly love his work and lordy he did work, love those beautiful eyes, loved that NM lined up for him as well, loved that we made a decision to take him (Oh I was not happy about that!!), loved that he gave it his all.

Remember him toweling up Brent Harvey at Etihad when Harvey was in imperious form.
Played some fantastic games for us.
Totally changed my perception of him
                  Congrats

I'd certainly say I was a bit sceptical when we recruited him but the Collingwood scapegoat turned out to be an absolute steal.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I took my wife to the game on Saturday. First time she has seen a game (never watched more then 30 seconds on TV). She hated it, which is fair enough as a terrible game to watch from Swans point of view. On Sunday morning she was watching news and saw Rhyce being chaired off as his last game. Her comment was "wow that is a shame, seemed like the best player on the grounds for the Swans". She thought the other guy retiring was the next best.
