    True equality

AFL should set this as a goal:
    1) movable grand final .
    2) northern academies with presence to those clubs until 4/18 players in AFL come from Northern startes.
    3) sydney clubs recieve small COL Allowance. New scheme seems fair .
    4) All northern clubs get a retention/relocation allowance. This is set to a level that the flow of players in and out of nsw/qld is even. Reviewed every year.

Movable Grand Final is very questionable, The MCG is the icon for Australian Sport. 10th biggest stadium in the world and obviously our largest. I just happen to work here aswell haha.

The only time in the future I can see the Grand Final moving is that if both clubs from the same state make the grand final, example; Swans V GWS, West Coast V Freo. But still then, the MCG is mutual territory and in the Swans WCE games it still got over 95,000 which I don't think much other grounds if any, can hold that much.

Why does 100,000 matter if they are mostly corporates?. Every state byar queensland can hold close to 60,000.
      That's fine.

Move it to night as well.

It would still be full of corporates wherever held. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ talk.

More games for interstate teams at the MCG would for me be the greatest equalisation measure that the AFL could implement

The VFL, oops I mean the AFL will never do any of those things Barry. For a start the two richest clubs, collingwood and Hawthorn, refuse to pay the equalisation Tax. The AFL has no power to force them to do so.

The Brisbane Lions are a good example of how taking away the extra allowance, in their case the Northern Allowance (precursor to our COLA), can affect a club. They have trouble retaining players, just like we did pre the NA & then COLA. Players from interstate want to go home because their local clubs put pressure on them to go home. They say if you come home we will trade for you and the player is out of here. After all when you are young mum, dad and the family are everything.

The Victorian clubs have been especially ruthless in their pursuit of talent that has been drafted North.

            Good recent examples are;

            Tom Boyd (GWS to WB),

            Taylor Adams (GWS to Pies)

Adam Treloar (GWS to Pies) notice a trend

Patrick Karnezis (Lions to Pies) getting worse

            Jared Polec (Lions to Port)

            Billy Longer (Lions to Saints)

            Jack Crisp (Lions to Pies)

            Elliot Yoe (Lions to Eagles)

            Stefan Martin (Looks like leaving)

            Sam Docherty (Lions to Blues)

James Aish (looks like going home to Adelaide)

            Shaun Edwards (GWS to Bombers)

            Anthony Miles (GWS to Tigers)

            Josh Bruce (GWS to Saints)

Jonno O'Rourke (GWS to Hawks) Another rich Melbourne club enticing a youngster home.

Josh Caddy (Suns to Cats) Again a very wealthy Victorian club enticing a player home.

We have had our fight with this problem before the COLA, Rocca and the list could go on forever. The strong Victorian clubs keep pressure on young players to go home by enticing them with good offers behind the back of their clubs, usually through a third party like a family member. That is because it is against the rules for a club to approach a contracted player. But as I say the VFL and their Victorian clubs get away with murder.

You could also list at least 50 players from Adelaide & Port and if you added Eagles and Freo you might just hit the ton.

Academies are biased to northern clubs. (Points discount) until players from nsw/qld in same proportion as teams. Only then are they watered down

Yes the AFL tend to deliberately put matches with the interstate clubs at Docklands. We played twice at MCG, the Eagles once, Giants twice, Lions once, Freo twice, Adelaide three (wow an amazing occurrence an interstate club played more than two games at MCG), Port once, Suns twice.

Interesting how several of the sides who were in the top eight get to only play either once or twice at the G.

Yet Collingwood play fourteen matches and Hawks played nine but remember they have four home games at Arora Stadium in Launceston. Of Collingwood's fourteen matches nine are home matches. Of Hawks matches only five are home matches.

The other thing is do the Melbourne teams who use the G as their home ground have an unfair advantage over their Docklands and interstate rivals? In the case of interstate teams very much so as interstate teams play no more than three times there. But the docklands teams can play up to six games there funnily enough so while there is an advantage it isn't as pronounced as over the interstate teams.

All the interstate teams are at an immediate disadvantage to the Victorian teams anyway due to the amount of travel they have to do. Add to that the inequitable funding the AFL gives from the development fund. The Victorian clubs are protected from bankruptcy too, unlike the interstate clubs. If an interstate club goes broke the AFL will just step in with a replacement club. But the Victorian clubs are protected due to history in the VFL. So my position is that in reality there is no such thing as the AFL. It is the VFL under a different name with one rule for the Victorian clubs and one for the interstate clubs. Take the Essendon saga, a Kangaroo Court and no convictions against anyone. then the AFL goes one further with the Kangaroo Commission to put a trade ban on the Swans. My point is totally proven in both those examples. The other point is the fact that several Victorian clubs have breached the salary cap in recent years and they don't get a mention in the press or should I say a little byline as they were given piddling fines.

Maybe against the Giants as their home game.

I think one measure to equalise would be to make all interstate wins worth 5 points. This way, Melbourne clubs who play week after week in the same city and don't have to travel, get less of an advantage. If a team elects to play a home game interstate, then that would only be worth the usual 4 points for a win.

I''m not sure if it an equalisation thing or not but it is strange how little player movement there is between the two team states ( is the rivalry that great ? ) - apart from Mumford / Lamb after the Buddy deal and Riscatelli from Brisbane to GC - has anybody gone from Adelaide to Port or Freo to WC ? It seams that players are happy to go home but not to another team in the same city apart from Melbourne of course.

I like this utterly crazy idea but I think it would struggle to get the votes

I know there is an advantage to the Vic clubs but I like the idea of playing the GF at the G, I just wish someone would point this out to the likes of Eddie every time they try and shut down anything that helps us develop the game up here.

The priority for all four northern clubs is to get their local content to 75% asap to negate the go home factor

AFL grand final 2015: Non-Victorian teams need to play more games at MCG, says David Koch I hate his voice but the man has good ideas.

The MCG screwed the VFL back in the day by stopping the Government from building a train line out to Waverly Park. I have no love at all for the MCG or the asshole MCC members.
