I wondered why we had gone quiet on the Irish recruits after a number have signed with other clubs. I think Tadgh is still involved with the Irish through the AFL so no doubt there was a heads up to us on this lad.
191cm is a good size, wonder if he has any pace?Comment

There are brief interviews with both O'Riordan and Beatson towards the end of the final day AFL wrap on the AFL website - see link above. Beatson says they see him playing a Kennelly type role. Most of the Irish boys who've played senior footy seem to have at least started in such a role.

6ft3in is 190.5cm
not that it matters much because he does appear to be your running HBF type of recruit whether he is 190cm or 194cm

And I think that Tipperary were robbed. Not that I understand the rules at all, but hey, why should that stop me from having an opinion.Comment

What I like about this kid is that he's a leader. It's about the first quality I look at in recruiting anybody to the club.

I hope he makes the grade but we have to remember It's a long way to Tipperary ......Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

"O'Riordan, a fiercely determined 20-year-old from County Tipperary ? and a former Gaelic football young player of the year ? has stunned the Swans coaching staff, especially reserves coach Rhyce Shaw, with his early performances in the NEAFL, grabbing plenty of ball, kicking goals and showing an unexpected sense for the game."
