Alex Johnson - Is he due back in 2016?

Can anyone confirm if Alex is due back to the playing stocks in 2016?

Information that I have caught up with is long term. Required player. 4th? reco and am very hopeful for a fully fit return sometime in 2016?

Because he would fill the need for a Key backman a little?

    Thanks

According to his interview on Open Mike, he's due to have surgery which will cause him to miss all of next season.

I think when the Swans announced a week or so ago that he was going in for his reco soon, they said they were looking at a 2017 return. They're obviously being extremely conservative there, but taking no chances either. That will be four full seasons missed!

I spoke with Alex recently. He plans to have the surgery in the near future (yes, a bit vague), at this stage it would likely be a LARS, and he hoped to be back on the field sometime next season. I said we're looking forward to having him back in one piece. He cracked up laughing and said that was his aim too. Very comforting.

And if we have to wait longer, it'll still be worth the wait.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I wonder what else Alex is up to - with plenty of time off the field I assume he is either studying and/or working in some non-footy capacity. Does anyone know?

Neale Daniher missed 3 years with serious injuries ... twice

Ted Fisher & Bill Twomey both had 10 years pass between senior games & Syd Barker had over 13 years between senior games with Richmond and then Essendon.

Great to see the club stand by AJ...AJ signs on for another season - sydneyswans.com.au.

Everything crossed for a successful op and return.

Correct, I did spell his name inadvertently incorrectly. (and would correct if possible or of someone can assist.)

However AJ has just extended his contract.

                  Which is good news

Still studying business sports management. Taken on extra subjects, close to finishing the degree by the time he returns to the field. (as per open mike)

Added to the senior list as well today not rookie list. So i guess he earns a bit more coin, will be placed on LTI which allows abit more flexability with rookie upgrades?

                      Great news:

Scans this week finally cleared Johnson of the infection that ruined his last knee reconstruction and further revealed that bone grafts in the knee were suitable for him to now have the knee reconstructed again.

The article says his surgeon and club doctor will talk on what type of surgery.. is that still Gibbs?

Was on swans website reading this Swans to celebrate in 2016 - sydneyswans.com.au say AJ will celebrate his 50th game in round 5, is it just a mistake or will he be able to play early next year?
