Rumours of one last loss to the Pies at ANZ in Rd 1:
One more year for ANZ Stadium deal

I was hoping we didn't have to play the Pies at ANZ anymore!

Confirmed that we're playing Collingwood at ANZ on Saturday night in Round 1.

Great start to the season having a big game in Sydney, should get a massive crowd with all the Pies fans travelling up.

I assume it also means that we will get to play Collingwood at the MCG later in the season...another massive game!

We played Essendon Rd 1 this year at ANZ but didn't play them again. I hope we do get to play them twice though...

I'm hoping we get a chance to say a very raucous 'thank you and goodbye' to Adam Goodes (and Mike Pyke) in Round 1 but I'm disappointed it won't be at the SCG.

When do we ever get to play round 1 at the SCG? I believe it is because the ground is never made available due to the potential for cricket to need the ground too soon before the start of the AFL season.

Ok let me put it another way - I'm hoping we get to celebrate Adam at the SCG (which we identify as his home ground). So perhaps the Swans should wait till our first home match at the SCG rather than do it in Round 1.

I checked. 2005 was the last time (we belted Hawthorn)

I agree with this sentiment 100%. Commemorating the legend of one A Goodes would be kind of soulless and inappropriate at any venue other than the SCG.

I've been thinking that the first game of every season that is played at the SCG should become the Goodesy celebration round where a reenactment of last year's Adelaide game would take place in honour of the great man and to show the world how much Goodesy meant to / means to us. How uplifting would it be to witness that sea of 37 t-shirts at the start of each new year? It's a tradition waiting to be embedded.

I'm disappointed that we are playing at Homebush at all next year. I thought the dark days of Homebush were behind us. I must have misread something. Further, to have to play Collingwood there in round one is less than appetising.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

2016 is the last year we play at ANZ. From 2017 we have a 30 year deal with the SCG for all home games, including finals

First game at the SCG should be Goodesy's farewell and it'll be emotional, can see the 37 t-shirts and messages of support getting a good re-run but after that I reckon we should just let him get on with the next chapter of his life, and I say that as someone who definitely holds him in the highest respect

Reckon there is an outside chance that with any stadium management centralisation that we could see this brought forward.

Rumour has it that the big picture is for the ANZ Management right sto be bought out by the state government and for a "Super Trust" to be created. Once the two new stadiums are built (Parramatta and Moore Park) then ANZ will be bulldozed for rediential development which will fund a huge % of the new stadiums.
