This may mean we lose Mitchell down the track

I guess it is possible but if I were him I'd be taking a two year extension to 2018, get his games up to the 100 mark and then take a serious look at free agency. He's been paid massive overs for the first five years from all reports.

All the same I'd hate to lose him, Hanners, Parker, JPK, Mills and Mitchell is a gun midfield.

My personal view is that with the new TV deal we should be able to offer him a back-ended contract that juggles the finances.

The big one for me is whether we'll be able to afford to keep Tippett after this year, suspect he will need to take a salary haircut if we want to keep him.

He's a gun, though I see him more in the small forward role he played last year, mainly because he is cat like on the ground and plays very tall for his size with a vice like hands.

Maybe I'm wrong (I usually am) but I see him as a forward who is sometimes pinch hit into the midfield rather than an out and out midfielder.

Great news about Lukie. He and Hannas are both contracted until 2021. Don't worry about Mitchell he's going nowhere. By the time his contract comes up for renewal the new deal will be in place. Tip could be a problem but I think we might just get some secondary deal to prop his contract up. He has always been a Swans supporter so I think he will stay no matter what. He wants to play in premierships. One every two years would make me happy. Don't believe in sides winning every year. Not good for the comp.

Nice work, so many of the keys being locked up for a very long time, Buddy to 2022, Parker and Hanners to 2021 etc.

Makes all the nonsense about out of contract and going home written in the Melb press look stupid :-)

I think he has played basically all of his footy up until last year as a midfielder so I reckon that's where he will end with us, to be fair he was probably good enough to play more minutes on-ball last season but I think he spent his time in the forward line partially because he's a first year player and needed to be managed so to speak and partially because he's just so bloody good overhead!!
