I'm no Towers fan and thought his game tonight was lousy. But he's played a few good games in the past.

When the heat is on, he plays like a startled hare...His disposals/decision making tonight was terrible....

But he has the potential to be a pretty good depth player, he has speed and a great leap....

He needs to learn how to handle the heat...Though I'm not sure how that's taught.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Hard to keep 38 players, who are walk up starters, on a list. Many will go for opportunities. Towers is a good depth player who might not attract poaching overtures.

I just hope we're not paying him much.

Pointless dropping him in the first place and then bring him back with his confidence under question

It's on the player isn't it? If he's not running hard enough and gets dropped, it's on him when he gets the opportunity to do what the coaches want. He shouldn't be kept in the team to manage fragile confidence. He's either able to bring it or he's not.

Play the ball, not the man..

                      Towers attacks neither.

Seriously, though. Confidence doesn't affect committing to a contest. Disposal, yes. Commitment, no. I thought Trent Dennis-Lane was the softest bloke to pull on a Bloods guernsey, with Jesse White a close second. But this bloke takes the cake.

I can handle the odd loose disposal but time and again, as Dermie said each contest was like the game was riding on it, Towers failed to go hard enough.

There was one time in the arm wrestle of the last quarter when he had the ball - and handballed. It just needed an arching of the back and a burst of speed and we would have been free of the congestion.

A Goodes would have done it!

As others have said, it is probably a confidence thing, and at the end of last year he seemed to be gaining it

To be fair, he did attack one contest hard, which the commentators noted, but it was an outlier. I wouldn't be surprised if a coach got in his ear at three quarter time as IIRC it was in the last quarter.

                              +1

He certainly has the pace to be able to break the lines, kind of like Jetta would out of the congestion. Needs to trust himself. Would much rather see him get taken down holding the ball than turn the ball over from a hospital handball.
