Makes for a bad day at the footy when you realise within the first minute of play that you have a very loud moron sitting near you. Worse when they are behind you as they are really loud and invariably cover you in spittle!Comment

I had a bit more of a think ... most of our players are recruited from outside Sydney/NSW therefore most of them have most of their family away from where they currently live.
I definitely don't begrudge Lewis wanting to be close to family or the cultural pull, but Goodsey, Mick'O resisted as have many other players currently at the club.
I would hope that on the unlikely chance Jetts returned, it wasn't a mercenary cash grab, but rather a love for the Swans.
If he stays in WA, I wish him well, if he ever comes back, I will welcome him unreservedly.
I think the booing was a bit purile, but not unexpected from the first ex home game. I'd be pissed off if it continued.
Anyone hear the commentator (whatever his name is) announce that Jetts was playing and that he should expect the usual treatment etc? I did and I was very disappointed that such a stupid statement was made. Anyway, what's done is done. I am sure Mr and Mrs Kenny gave him a hug.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I bet they did. Kenny even gave Barry Hall a hug following Hall's first match at the SCG after leaving the Swans in somewhat acrimonious circumstances.
And I noticed that at least half the team rushed over to talk to Jetts at the end of the match, with far more warmth than is involved in the usual shaking of hands. No resentment from the players about Jetta leaving.Comment

So typical of the media (and many of our supporters) making a mountain out a mole hill. Almost every ex-player gets booed when they are the opposition, especially when they're kicking for goal. It's a fact, and a fact that I don't want removed from the game for the sake of political correctness. Anyone who thinks it has no place in our game should start going to polo games and tennis matches.Comment

And re Jetta going back to WA, I read a nice interview with him a couple of months ago in which he said how happy he was to be home where his kids could run around and play with their cousins as they grow up, just as he had done as a child. There seems to be a very strong family bond in the Jetta clan. So I agree, we are very unlikely to see him back as a Swan.Comment

Yes and there's usually a huge gap between how funny they think they are and how funny they actually are.Comment
-
Nup, I can't get that video to work from the Swans site either (at least not on iPad) but the other videos from round 5 are fine.Comment

Not sure about the booing of Jetta, didn't really notice it at all from Bay 4. I have since watched the replay and find it quite odd how audible it was :S"In some ways we?re less predictable to ourselves and sometimes that can be detrimental because we don?t really know where we?re going" - P.RoosComment

He is still around about 25 at my last count, so is his partner. His son is four. His daughter two. All of their families are in W.A. They have managed here without them, had two babies, etc etc. Of course he wanted/they wanted to go home, especially before Lewis Jnr starts school. I wish them well and I do not expect to see them back again at the Swans. Love him to pieces, but lets be realistic.Comment

The only time it was obvious was when he lined up for goal, which was just a bit of panto. I may have heard it once quietly at another stage but that's it. If it happened more than that it was a surprise to me. There certainly wasn't much of it going on near Bay 29.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

I didn't even notice a booing of Jetta when he was having that shot at goal.
I guess I was sitting there watching him hoping for some ridiculous miss
If there was a lot of booing I guess I mentally simply put it in the "opposition player is having a shot at goal, let's try to put him off" place where it goes every other time. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

It wasn't done with any great malice but it was totally uncalled for, though I must admit I had a bit of a boo myself when he was in front of goal.
I really think he deserved better because of his actions last year but I don't think there was any great malice to it, and there absolutely was no racist element. So, anyone having a genuine pop at us should get a grip. It's a kind of ritual when past players come back but for Lewis I would have hoped for better and next time I will probably say something if it happens
But it does show how precious some of our fans were about Tippett getting booed last week at the AO.Comment

I am disappointed that anyone booed Jetta, but it was very low key, by a small minority of the crowd, not done with malice and it was mainly only the time he kicked for goal.
The booing of Tippett was a huge roar carried out by a large majority of the crowd, it started as soon as the Swans entered the AO and was a constant throughout the match, and it was done with nasty vitriol (and near me by abuse and threats of physical violence).Comment
