Tiny bit tasteless given he only just passed & I hope none of his family or friends post on RWO ... not having a go Matimbo, just that I've had a couple of work colleagues lose elderly family members recently and their nerves are still very raw and their demeanour still somber. No offence meant to you.
I agree that Richards for Robinson is likely. It's true we would have a surfeit for smallish defenders. They could consider Towers or Brandon Jack for the bigger MCG, similar to the Crows game, but the defender who would go would be Jones and he's more than a decent runner himself. More likely McVeigh, Mills, or even Jones might spend more time up the ground.
Barry, McVeigh fits in because he is co captain. He has played off half back for a number of seasons, he is a bloody good footballer and he fits perfectly into our structure. He has at least 2 seasons left in that position. He makes few mistakes. He is a great man and mentor., and he is building fitness. Throw up Towers or whoever. The man stays. McVeigh is an underratted player in the comp. He is a senior player and every club needs these guys to stand up at the pointy end of the season, which he has done for years. He is a pivotal reason why our club has stayed strong.
How many players is it that we have on the wing. Is that the left or right wing. Mills is being educated by playing half back and we already have a crowded midfield. He still needs to build his tank to play a full game in the midfield. He has had 1 preseason for goodness sake.
Its not that McVeigh is bad, its just where does he fit in.
I think we should invest in Jones as the rebounding half back. For half forward its two of mcGlynn, Papley and Towers (with possibly Reid included as well.) McVeigh would be 4th choice half forward.
I doubt he's good enough for the midfield. So all though he is co-captain, the cliff for him is very steep and not far away.
Robbo will be out for a couple of months with his broken collarbone according to the Swans. So wondering if we'll try to blood a player in his position in the meantime.
Haven't seen ever game in the NEAFL but Hiscox seems to be going ok.. Is he up to the standard ?
or
Rose could come in play forward an Issac could push up the ground more
Robbo has played the crucial role up forward of trying to blanket their exits and occasionally tag runners out of halfback. And he's done it well. A specific role but not easy to replace

It's a shame for Robbo. He hasn't been great, but hasn't done much wrong either. I guess we should put him on the LTIL given he seems sure to miss at least 8 weeks.
He's been okay, but I had him as the first one out of the side and would have been the one I'd drop for Ted this week. If we needed to elevate a rookie, my pick would be Harry Marsh with Nic Newman not far behind. I doubt if anything will happen this week.
There are few senior listed players that are knocking on the selection door, particularly Davis, Jack and Rose. Towers is doing his usual good job in the reserves, but not sure much has changed to get him a call up just yet. I'd put the other 3, as well as Marsh and Newman ahead of him.

I'd be really hesitant about Hiscox as I just don' think his footskills are of AFL standard.
I'd expect this week it's simply Ted in and Robbo out. In terms of who is next in line I'd think Abe David is pushing for a run. I was disappointed that Aliir Aliir didn't get a second run against the Bombers but that's footy.
Robbo's done really well this season, he was one of a group we needed to step up and he has over-achieved in my book. The good thing is that his season is by no means over and he'll be pushing for a place in the finals I'm sure.
They could well be very very tempted to put Robbo on the LTIL and give young Colin a run but I think he probably needs a full season beating opposition players up in the NEAFL before being unleashed next year. That kid is going to be an absolute beast
