Harrison Marsh seems due for a few games. Time his ressie skills had a go in the firsts.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I think Mills will consistently be in our 22 unless he is injured, and so he should be. He is up and down, but he is going to learn a hell of a lot more in the first 22, where he is contributing reasonably, to playing in the NEAFL - a level even at this stage I'd argue he is a fair way above.

For once I agree with Luke - when it all clicks, he is going to be a sensational player for us. We have much larger issues to worry about than Mills in my book - although I'd stop choosing him to do kick outs as often, as we really need to smarten up on that part of our game.

Wasn't Saturday night just a reminder that we've got a young team that will make mistakes? I know it felt kinda sick at the time but it's not obvious to me that any other combination of players on our list today would have made a difference. We should certainly be striving to do our best this year, but I'm not convinced we'll see anything more than these types of hit and miss efforts.

Surprised on the hate for Hiscox - thought he was fine as debutants go. McVeigh on the other hand had several unforgivable turnovers for a player with his skill set. Hopefully, Parker and Mitchell have apologised profusely to Hanners and Josh - they are the only people they really owe an apology to.

Seriously... there are half a dozen players whose efforts at hitting someone wearing red and white (either by hand or foot) were piss poor.

That needs to be looked at.
Almost we rank 15th however there is less than 6% between the best and worst performing teams . This site is a footy tragics best friend

[ When our mids are under the pump and don't get back, our backline is very vulnerable. I would put Jones and Mills in the Macca basket at the moment, do their bit but when the chips are down unable to make an impact.

Wow, you are comparing a 270 gamer and captain, to 2 blokes how have played 20 games between them.

            Hmmmm..

Zac Jones had 9 possessions. Brisbane 13, Essendon 15. There is a lot of love on here for him, but the tough style a few dashes doesn't mean a lot. When is he going to play a game when we go, wow how good was that. Hasn't done it yet and don't care how many games he has played.

Is he worth his spot. Just saying.........

Tend to agree. Not really playing like a pick 15. Small moments yes, but hardly enough of them. Maybe he needs more time to grow into his role, but he hasn't shown an awful lot so far.

I agree that his early form has not been sustained. His tap work seems alright and he does compete reasonably well in contests around the ground, although could probably lift his contested mark average a little.

The two areas of concern are goals and fitness. His goal kicking is not great and he does not seem confident with it. Also, he doesn't run out games well, and looks done by the fourth quarter.

Interesting statistic from Jake Niall in his Fox Footy piece on our alleged Buddy over-dependence:
The Swans recruited Callum Sinclair to share ruck and forward duties with Tippett, who has performed well as a ruckman. Sinclair, alas, hasn?t cut it in attack ? he?s won just four contests, lost 13 and had 12 ?draws?? (squared contests) when the ball has been kicked to him as a forward.

He's a little disappointing but I think he's a keeper. With a bit of luck he'll keep on developing and should be a 100 + game player for us

Watched the game again. Feel more composed. Feel like we will gain more from the loss than we would have gained from a win.

I think it is time.to rest Papley.

I can't believe Hanners only got 6 votes in the coaches votes. I thought he played almost the best game I've ever seen him play. Without him we would have lost by 5 goals...

Agree totally. I'll bet he gets 3 brownlow votes.

Better than his 'norm smith' game?
Agree though, he was exceptional. Even without the goals he slotted, his clearance work and especially his hands in close were top shelf.

Thought Heeney was a good foil for him as well, but wasnt as involved as Hannas.

Since there were only 5 players in total, it means every player received at least one vote from each coach.

Hence Franklin can only be 2-1 and not 3-0. That means the player who received the other 1 vote had to receive 5 votes from the other coach. i.e. either Hanners or Miles received a 5-1, with the other receiving a 4-2

Which means Martin got 5-3 and Griffiths 4-3
