Just an aside to this thread.

Obviously Luke Parker is in our best team no matter what, but if he is injured or carrying an injury, as he currently appears to be, and this does not improve then I would like to see Brandon Jack given his chance.

Parker is crucial to any premiership hopes we have, his ability to mark, kick goals and win contests has been a significant factor this year. He is not marking in contests any more, his goal kicking usually such an asset has dropped off and although still winning the contest and possessions, his efficiency has fallen. If I recall correctly, Adam Goodes, Michael O'Loughlin, Tadgh Kennelley and others all had medial or PC damage and all had similar issues. If he needs to have work let him do it now please.

Gold Coast next week is the ideal game to rest Parker if that is what he needs.

Reid is in our best 22, takes big marks and has pace, he can anywhere on the field, much better at FF than Sinclair, played well from a wing last year as well which causes match up problems for the opposition, didn't look out of place in defence either.

Of the ones being discussed, Lloyd shouldn't even be discussed as a possible miss, Hewett is now best 22 IMO, Rohan should be in if he keeps impacting like last week but needs to find more ball, Papley maybe in, Jones I'm still fence sitting, McVeigh is in, despite moderate form, McGlynn is a week to week now maybe him or Papley but not both? Talia doubtful to reappear this year.

Not sure how that lot looks on the team sheet but it's nice that we've had some ressie players lift to senior level to help cover our lack of list depth.

Taking the earlier best 22 teams, that would give us emergencies of Reid/Richards, Papley, BJ, Towers, Nankers, Talia & Robbo when fit. Can't think of who might be next in line, only untried or one/two gamers. Really want Naismith to stay fit as from the little I've seen of him he is an upgrade on Sinclair with lots of upside - think Max Gawn.

Will people never learn. Ted has an interrupted pre season. When he comes back he is scratchy for one game (normal), finds form and kicks a top goal (the world loves him) but gets the eye socket broken. Misses a couple of weeks and probably shouldn't have played against the Tiges, and gets a pasting on RWO, with some experts having him retired. He plays against Hawthorn and looked sharp until he gets Ko'ed (why wasn't that 50 metres). He will come back next week, be back on song and hold down full back, as usual his reliable self, until the end of the season. By the way Teddy has always been slow.
He is a full back not a midfielder so the burnout factor is not as bad. I bet Hawthorn is ruing tapping Brian Lake on the shoulder.

If Naismith gets a good run in the reserves I think he will challenge Sinclair for his spot. If Naismith comes in, I would expect around a 60-40 split with Tippett in the ruck, allowing Tippett to play mostly as a forward, which is a considerable improvement on Sinclair. I also thought Max Gawn when seeing Naismith play. I think Sinclair just needs to improve his marking, but otherwise he's doing okay. We need to get more goals from the forward/ruck position so we're not so Buddy focused.

Talia may be back by August, but agree it's just hopeful speculation when it comes to midfoot injuries. But if available it would probably force Reid to play forward, perhaps taking the place of Sinclair, barring the Naismith inclusion. In that case, Tippett would be the primary ruckman with spells from Reid.

I see a lot of players these days with the kind of knee brace that Parker had. It looks like it could be a lateral movement stabilizer, perhaps for MCL or LCL strains. I thought Parker got better as the game went on and didn't seem hampered by the 4th quarter. Agree that the GC game would be a good time to rest any sore bodies and maybe give a debut to Marsh.

I really like Naismith as well, but he really needs a good solid run of footy in the ressies to show he is completely over his injury curse before I think we will actively consider him for senior selection. He certainly will push Sinclair for selection if he can find some good ongoing form - there is a lot to like about him.

Even though our injury list is pretty good you can't predict what happens in the coming games. Also, team structures can be changed depending who we're playing.
And what about minor injuries to players like Parker and Sinclair.

I thought 2015 would be Teddy's last but he played on. I thought Macca would step down as captain but he didn't. I think Macca does his best work in the forward half of the ground now.
