I think rd 1 2018 is a more realistic date, unless he makes rapid progress in the next few weeks. No doubt the marks of his class were there on Saturday, but he is a long way off being ready to contribute for a full four quarter performance at AFL level."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Agreed. This year for AJ is about learning how to play footy again. I think he will be used in various positions before playing KPD which is probably the spot for him. A big pre season in 2018 and a solid run in the pre season comp (whatever it will be called next year) and a push towards seniors for game 1Comment

We'll never know!
What I do know is if Sam Reid had played and we lost we'd all be questioning why we selected a player who hadn't played in seniors all year in what is the biggest match of the year. Also why we dropped a player who had played well in the seniors for most of the yearComment

Reid should have played, but AJ has been out for 4 1/2 seasons. He'll need time to remember how to play again. If he comes on in leaps and bounds, and we make finals, then look at him, but I'd expect 2018 is a far more likely option.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

Sure, I'm just concerned about pushing him too hard too early. If there's ever a player to be conservative with it's AJComment

mattybloods, you are not his trainer (I assume). You are a fan, who wants its best players playing in the seniors and having a tilt at a flag.
A 2012 premiership player is a handy inclusion, and I would imagine an "AFL sanctioned fairytale".Comment

I seem to recall that we played a few players who had returned from injury and they all played poorly. Why add another one to that list?Comment

We're all fans and we've all got opinions. If he comes back in seniors this year it's fantastic, however I'm not getting ahead of myself. As AJ said himself, "One game at a time"Comment
