There’s an interview with AJ at the end of the Superfooty podcast if anyone is interested?

I wonder.....if the Swans had known he was going to be back into it by midway through this season, would they have kept him?

There are only so many ACL compromised players that a list could handle. So realistically it’s probably Manzel vs AJ

Swans did want to keep him. They offered him a job. So AJ could have done exactly the same in Sydney as he is doing now: worked for an AFL club, continued his rehab, and when physically ready played for a local team. All with the longer-term aim of winning draft selection.

Instead he chose to go back to Melbourne.

Is Manzel the singular of Menzel?

My impression was that the Swans offered AJ a coaching role (like the one Lloyd Perris got) and not a playing role. But AJ still aspires to play at the highest level and hopefully win a premiership and so he preferred to accept a player-coach role at the Blues. I imagine if he had been offered the same thing he might have stayed here with his mates. But maybe not.

Your comment is funny but there is a bonus irony in you calling out another poster about the spelling of players' names!

Yes it was funny Barry. Nainsmith and Haywood say hi.

I’ll take Barry’s comment in the spirit that I’m sure that it was intended ... with good humour ... rather than mocking a typo

Kudos for your honesty Barry. "Typo" is a weasel word for "spelling mistake".

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
