    Toby Nankervis

According to the AFL site Nankervis is being looked at by other clubs at best I think we would get a late 2nd or 3rd round pick for him.

I don't see the point in spending all this time developing the big lumbering Taswegian only to flog him off for a pittance.

Horse is on the record for saying he prefers a deep stock of ruckmen so I'd say that unless Toby wants out we will keep him. He's only young and ruckmen take time

Yep, 29 news articles on the AFL website today. Pick a name, any name, for tomorrows news. Circling indeed; only mentioned at the end that 5 clubs were in need of a ruckman. Pick a name, any name....

If your job is recruiting at an AFL club other than the Swans, and you haven't at least called Isaac's manager to enquire if he's interested in lots of money, then you're probably not going to have that job for too long.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

            Absolutely.
Apparently $750,000 p/y five year deal has been thrown around.
Which would imply that the Swans may have to come into that realm at a very early point of his career.
I've noticed the Swans players been talked about a lot in the news recently, contacted or not.
Gonna be a fair job locking in all our stars. Good problem to have I guess...

Josh Kennedy is contracted till end 2017 so it's a bit early to be raising concerns that he might be on the move.

I think given tipped age and ruckmen are so injury riddled ........and when most emerging ruckmen are truly ready it would be in Toby's interest to stay and fight it out with Sinclair , sammy and the Tip

But a swans Mumford offer may come along ala when mummy was at the cats

I'm sure the Hawks forum were saying the same thing about buddy, but maybe I'm just pessimistic

I can't see Toby getting an outrageous bid. Sure if we axed him someone would pick him up but for us I'd say he is most definitely a required player and I just can't see him moving at this stage.

I would hope we keep him and that he wants to stay.
He seems to me to be a footballer.
He may not be able to run like Dean Cox (but then he was a great ruckman) but he does seem to read the game well and be happy to use his body appropriately. I have faith our staff will get the most out of him and he can prove worthy of many a senior game.

Don't forget the salary cap will rise in 2017 and forwards, probably by a significant amount with the AFLPA trying to lock in a fixed % of all revenue. The new cap will make Tippo's and Buddy's contracts look cheap.

We haven't finished 2016 season yet, have we? Plenty of time to get Josh Kennedy's signature. Mitchell, well that contact's a bit closer to action time, still can't get a read on that.

Lot's of journo's looking for bumpf to fill column inches so use this method. Pick sides that are missing a certain type of player, ruck, KPF then look at other sides that appear to have a surplus of said type of player, write an article suggesting said sides are "looking" at said players. Footy chat sites and media outlets run with story.

Or, name any number of gun players and suggest they are being flagged by an un named club with a super deal that will either A) cause cap grief for their current club in contract negotiations or B) make the said gun think about taking up the super offer. Maybe for this method of creating a story we pick say ....... Isaac Heeney and say un named but obviously very interested poaching club has offered say an over the top for what the lad has currently delivered ooooh say $750k/year over ooooh say 5 years. That would make a good story, I'll write that, doesn't have to have a shred of truth because I haven't named the un named bidder.

Would be good to note every trade scenario touted by the media for a whole year and then see how many of these supposed real tales come to fruition. I'd say from previous years almost none.

The type of story with the biggest success rate in that it actually happened is the homesick trade but generally there is plenty of smoke well before the story is first floated.

As for Nankervis, he is no doubt on the radar of other clubs needing a ruckman but won't be at the top of their list. As for Heeney, is there a more unlikely player to jump ship in the whole league? He is red and white through and through, playing with players who are close to him like Mills, playing close to home so family see him play a lot, playing for a genuine contender, can't see him giving up all that for money.

Also not mentioned in these BS pieces is how "the club" with the $750k/yr over 5 years would actually get the trade for Heeney done. If Heeney did say to the Swans, I want to be traded to that excellent club Wretchmond, how would they satisfy the Swans to get the trade done? Just not happening in the real world.

Given the form shown by Membrey and Biggs and the young guys that have fitted in straight away all clubs are going to be looking at poaching our young players - clubs are going to be looking for players that cant get a regular game at the Swans rather than Brisbane , Gold Coast as our development program is clearly better than others - especially with some clubs accessing a full salary cap for the first time in a long time - it was only a matter of time

From what I can see, he is a bit too slow and I would be very surprised if he makes it at AFL level. Anyhow from what I seen from Naismith last week ,I am more than happy to keep him and Tippett as our ruck options.
