Not quite sure we want to play GWS first up. I know it's great for the code in Sydney, but their complete destruction of Fremantle yesterday (72 to 2 in the second half) looked fairly ominous. Would rather play the inconsistent Geelong.

How is it any more ominous than our very own demolition of the purple haze a few weeks back?
GWS only beat them by 2 more points playing at home as opposed to us smashing them in Perth, so I would have thought that made our win a bit more grand.Comment

I reckon we can handle them. Stevie J and Mumford are their key to finals success. If we minimise their impact then that'd go a long way to beating them. Having Tippett back in the ruck is huge for us and our defensive effort has been magnificent this year (best percentage and lowest points against in the league).Comment

Paying a team who have never played a final before in the first round of finals?
I'll take that

Giants have no finals experience. They'll go as far as a semi.
Two risk factors for the Swans:
* we lose against Tigers, we'll likely go to fifth given GWS percentage
* first place isn't sown up - Crows only need to win by 40 or so (net) more than us to take first. The issue for me with that is the QF consequences - we win, we'll likely face Hawks or Giants, and I'd prefer us to play both early. Also, if we finish first and get over the Hawks, it's likely we'll face the cats in the QF....a much better prospect.
Most likely grand final opponent assuming we win through is the Crows. It plays out easily whether we finish first or second.Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

Why?
Cheathorn are our biggest threat, therefore, them having to play an elimination final and possibly get knocked out in the first round works in our favour big-time.
We can also finish 2nd and still get two home finals.
Quite frankly, I'd rather play Geelong or Adelaide first up rather than Umpirethorn.Comment

I guess I worry that they are the only team this year that have really beaten us badly. The other four losses could have gone our way. Anyway, we'll see. Got to beat up on Richmond first.
