    Towers

Haven't seen so much hate for a Swan since the early "@@@@@@" days.
Been a couple of weeks since then, where does everyone sit now?
He's shown great resilience to move forward and continue to improve IMO, good on him.

Willing to kill him upon occasions all through the year. BUT his teammates approve of him. That says a lot. And I only wanted his neck once against Freo, about average for each of them, except AA who has not done much wrong at all. So.... Growing into the game?

Playing pretty decent footy. Just bench him when a game is in the balance deep into the last quarter!

I think people on forums like this jump on players who do stupid stuff / have poor games when we lose.
I hope Towers can turn into a more consistent Jack Gunston type player in time. It will just take time, and
like everyone he will have poor games now and again. It took awhile for Gunston to turn into the player
        he is now.
Awhile ago people were picking on Lloyd, but during
the game yesterday one of the commentators mentioned he'd only missed one game in the last two years.
The coaching staff obviously think he is worth his regular spot.

I'd still happily trade "Chef" aka Deano for a decent offer. He can be a good player but, after keeping the faith a long while, my patience finally expired a couple of weeks back. He has talent but lacks footy nous, as best I can tell. He too often goes missing and makes poor decisions or lets opponents get away. That said, if we keep him, I hope he continues to develop and plays better and better for us, which he should be capable of. That's the whole problem - there's plenty of upside but it's taking too long to expose it. How old is he now? 25? 26? (Unlike with, say, Joey where there can't be much upside: he gives his goddamn best all the time and it's hard to see how he could get much better, especially after a game like yesterday's. I love him. One of my top 6 favourite Swans and my favourite Swans midfielder.)

Where I was sitting last week against carlton, that was the strongly pervading view of several members of the crowd

He did well yesterday, and his last couple of weeks have been pretty decent. You can see glimpses of why the coaches (and players) hold him in high regard - and in the absence of better options, he should be given an ongoing opportunity to cement his spot. I'm far from sold on his ability to become anything more than a fringe AFL player, but there is hope there (and I enjoy being proven wrong!)

The early season criticism of Towers was warranted. There were big expectations of him coming out of the pre-season, especially from the coaches, so when he came out and had a very ordinary start to the season, got dropped, only to come back and blunder us into the loss against Richmond, most of us had had enough, myself included.

But since his return from the reserves 6 weeks ago, he's been a much improved player. He's having a big impact through the midfield. Sometimes he still looks like a player that doesn't know what to do with ball in hand and no one to kick to, but he's not the only one. He can be a very damaging player when he receives the ball in the midfield and takes off ala Dangerfield. He's getting plenty of ball these last several games and generally using it well. Kicking a few goals too. I still would not like to see him on the field in the last few minutes of a close game, but otherwise, he's become an important part of our attack.

If he can keep up his current form, it will be yet another surprise in a very surprising season for player development.

Don't ya love it when people get really picky about terminology used.
Regardless, hate would be interpreted for the way he plays and his skill set, obviously not as a personality description.
"Never to play again" and other nice phrases were thrown around a couple of weeks ago, blaming him for losses etc.

I also note that apparently Mc H a c k has been banned. That's pretty silly. I don't think it has been used in a descriptive way of McVeigh for years. It's only ever used in discussion , as I did.

I'm getting around the selective word ban by changing @@@@@@ to McBarry and RWO to ANZ.*

*Yeah, it works. The mods didn't pick it up.

                              Not true!

Dean gave Richmond fans the most excitement they've had all year.
