Jack for McGlynn. No brainer.

Jack for Mcglynn, he played ok but not as if his career was on the line. Papley is a must for mine up forward, switched on from the 1st bounce
I love Mcglynn but takes too much game to get going
Laidler for Cunningham, HC made a few silly errors. I still think he should be used as a primary tagger on an opposition Mid.
Laidler needs a game before finals, we cant call on him in a few weeks and expect him to slot straight in, give him and Harry a run and choose the best match up week 1.
Someone for Christ sake tell Towers not to play-on if he marks it and get way behind the mark so you don't kick into the man (under 10s @@@@@).
His pace is good in free flow but he is so stupid against the tide 3 times a game. That stuff cost games as he would know.
Praying for some Miracle that Reid comes up, id play him underdone in the goal square over a fit TowersComment

To me, parts of Papley's game and intensity remind me of plays like McGlynn's at times. I just hope that Papley is able to take it to a new level, something McGlynn struggled with for various reasons. The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

Papley seems to be able to unsettle opposition players. In his last two games, he was assaulted by two St Kilda defenders whilst on the bottom of a pack and then this week against North got into a a similar tiff with Harvey (not hard to do admittedly).
Thought Zac Jones deserves another chance to get back, is he available this week?Comment

I think Zac has another fortnight so might be available for the first week of finals but would be a big risk.Comment

Jack for Mclgynn for mine. I wasn't convinced by mcglynn, although his second half was better. For balance, it has to be either him or Papley that goes out in my book, and I'd stick with Papley as we have all season as the small forward."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Time to start thinking finals. I don't think mcglynn will play a role in September pending injuries. Had an okay game on the weekend but there's no one else I can see coming out for Jack

Here's where I stand with McGylnn.
I feel for him. He missed a flag, and this is his last chance.
I'd love to see him with confetti streaming behind him at the end of the GF, but I don't think he's in our best 22 any longer.
I'm happy for him to get a GF gig due to injury to another player, but failing that....
Same with McVeigh. I've been a fair critic of his form, but I think he is a best 22 player as it stands.
Next year it's possible he'll do a Teddy and not get back, but he may also play well enough to keep his spot.
I think Papley has to stay. He's done enough and playing finals is a bit part of future development for him.The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

Looks like Sam Reid's been pushed out to the never never on the Injury Update: 5 to 7 weeks. Hopefully he'll have a big preseason for the premiership defence.Comment

Wait for it.....
OUT: Sweet Bloody Caroline.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

As for the team selections in general, I'm not sure who we should replace for KJ. I was pleased with McGlynn's performance on the Saturday. He may add more to the team than Towers when the pressure is on.
There are many contenders for the final 2 spots in the side going into the finals:
McGlynn
Cunningham
Towers
Jones (should be fit for finals)
Laidler
If we get past these it will more be a matter of injury replacement than form, which is more or less settled at this stage. I can make a case for any of these 5 to have a spot in the side. Jones would be my first pick if he gets a clearance to play in the NEAFL the previous week and does well. I prefer Cunningham as a tagger for someone like Brad Hill or Charlie Cameron. Not a big fan for him as a defender. Towers will have less impact with the addition of Tippett and McGlynn, and I worry about him when the pressure is up. I like Laidler in the side is we play Adelaide because of their many talls they have.Comment

That's just ridiculous - to call for such an important change, on the eve of finals, when we are sitting in first place and are premiership favourites, would risk throwing team balance and harmony awry and would completely disregard poor Caroline's important contribution all year.
She stays for mine.Comment
