Del Santo still has a year or two left in him. Averaging 25 possessions per game. Not a dickhead.Wouldn't mind him.

I haven't watched North much this year, but the word is that he's in much the same position as ROK - too slow to affect the contest.

C'mon he's an average player plus he turns 39 next year and we have Robbo and Jones injured to come in next year. Also the natural progression of Abe, Colin and Newman (might request trade)

Look at the list of players on the club website who have represented the club over the years. It is littered with has-been players who we got in the bad old days and played a handful of games- Catoggio, Brereton, Busse, Thompson, Callery, Cowton, Daffy, Craig Davis, Andrew Demetrio, MacKellar, Hug, Picken, Tingay etc etc etc. The Swans became a retirement home for washed up players. Thank goodness we don't do it these days.

I had that exact thought yesterday. If it was 15-20 years ago, he'd already have a Swans polo on. Scotty Russell and Brett Allison spring to mind.

Do not particularly like Harvey but I thought the way North handled this was wrong. Couldn't they have told him (behind closed doors) that his contract would not be renewed which would have allowed him to hold a press conference and announce his retirement? If they had done that and he didn't want a press conference then that would have been his choice.

I don't think Harvey found out about this via social media. He had already been told by the club. It's been reported that all the players were too upset or angry to want a press conference.

I still find the timing of the announcement odd, and think Harvey, in particular, possibly deserves another year.

I think if the AFL are serious about a national comp then a deal where Harvey plays as an on field player/assistant coach role (abit like Stevie J at GWS) for Brisbane is a good idea. We saw from that graph the other day how young their players are.

Well yes, I was. But still in shock at Norths decision. Him being on their list would in no way block youth coming through because they are dropping the other 3 and will surely delist nahas and ray at season end. Whilst I have no particular love for North or Boomer - it offends me as a sport fan that the games record holder would be treated this way.

I agree we don't need him for several reasons.

I would have thought Boomer was playing well enough to earn another year, albeit on a greatly reduced salary.

However it is a modern day sporting affliction that, given how well players are paid these days in a range of professional sports, sometimes they need to be pushed out at the end of their careers.

                            Often a tough one.

Geez, the shinboners have grown some balls, haven't they?
Why would you get rid of your four "best" players, when they are doing a great job and you're only paying half their wage?
I just don't get why they've done this.
Do you think they might be doing a "buddy" and need to clear some money space to do it? How many massive, superstar players are out there looking for a gig (at Norfs, no less)?
                              Just don't get it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

If it was for a reason like that, it could be someone still in contract? Fyfe? Although I can't imagine what the Roos could offer the Dockers to get it done.
