The biggest recruiting stuff up apparent from last night's game was Caleb Daniel going at 46 in the 2014 draft. All clubs should regret that one - in what is already looking like a very strong draft, for him to drop to that low was criminal. He is a serious player as was shown by his performances in the national championships that year. He should have gone much much higher.

We took Jack Hiscox a few picks earlier - hmmmmmm.....

Dunkley's been playing a pretty similar role for the Dogs as Hewett has for us, and I can see them developing into similar roles in the future at their respective clubs. Dunkley's had a good first season for the Dogs, as has Hewett for the Swans. And although they were drafted two drafts apart, there is actually just a year's age difference between them, with Hewett only qualifying for the 2013 draft by a few days and Dunkely only missing the 2014 draft by a few days.

He's got a great name, but could still grow half a foot before he's drafted.

Doesn't the father-son picks now require us to give up draft selections?

We already gave up a bunch for Mills.

I THINK we gave up about 4 draft picks for Mills (From memory) so we did not have space left for everyone. But personally I will keep Mills and bulldogs can have Dunkley. I think we have a special group of youngsters right now, so I am surprised supporters are whinging about the one that got away?

Good player and will probably have a long and successful career. Aside from the Dunkley Snr thing and the fact the Sydney is not in Melbourne, I recall the knock on him being his disposal and Beatson was looking for players that had top notch disposal skills hence the drafting of Leonardis and Dawson.
Caleb Daniel is a cracker of a player. Must have a been a real good'un to beat him for the Rising Star award...

I am sure that if Dunkley was more committed to the f/s process he'd be a swan.

Looking at the draft hit rate of Beatson and you'd be hard pressed to find a better record so nothing to see here imo.

Libba Snr was just asked whether tonight is the best Dogs' finals win and he suggested that the '97 win over Swans was comparable. I nearly threw the remote through the TV.

Will never forget how that smarmy little so and so and his mate Romero used to treat P Kelly, especially in '97.

I then recalled how Andrew Dunkley reacted to said treatment. I dare say Dunks Snr would never have believed his son could wear that jumper and line up alongside Libba's son.

Thats a bit tough on Libba Jnr. From what Ive seen, he's not resorted to his fathers tactics.
And to be far, Libba senior only ramped up the scragging as he got older.

What game were you watching Barry - Wet Toast barely came to play, not sure where any evidence of them being 'manic' was.

Dogs were great last night, but Wet Toast were very, very poor all night long.

That is what scares me a bit. I saw the WC - Adelaide game and thought that WC played great footy to make the Crows, up-until-then one of the form teams of the competition, look second-rate. So it was with some astonishment to me that the tables turned so dramatically last night, and at home too. WC played like the Crows had the week before. What is going on!!

Its been that sort of season - what is clear is there is absolutely no room for complacency from any team at all in the finals, an off night and you'll get rolled.

Thought the Doggies were terrific last night. But if you asked who I noticed: Picken, Liberatore, Johannisen, Daniel, both Boyds, Roughead, Dahlhaus...there'd be about 10 before Dunkley. So I guess no, I don't feel we missed out on the basis of that game.

Hoo hum. Yes the dogs were more manic, but toast gave it a crack for the first half at least.

One think dogs did well is as soon as Pridis had the ball he was tackled. Never had a clean possession. That killed WC spread.

Top 10 in a final is pretty good for a 1st year player. What are dawson or leonardis doing this weekend ?
