Let's just see. Swans had to play a "home ground" final at ANZ, supposedly to fit the crowd in. Now that 20,000 Dogs fans will want to see their team in a Prelim, do we think the AFL will make GWS play at ANZ (or SCG) to fit the crowd in? According to the AFL, GWS has 10k members (yeah right, like all of them) who will want to go to the prelim so at that rate only 12k Doggies members will be able to get in, another 10k minimum will miss out. Let's just see what Policy-on-the-Run these outrageous Farqeurs come up with.

Gws dogs prelim wont sell out.
Look at the numbers. 16000 gws members. Roughly 8000 in sydney, 8000 in canberra. Mant freebies. A prelim ticket will cost as much as a membership. They only had about 15,000 to the Sydney derby final. That's the absolute max they will bring.
Dogs fsns are poor and low numbers. Unemployed ones can't afford the flight and the others have shift work that weekend. Max 4000 fans.
Still leaves 3000 seats free.

9700 people saw the Dogs play GWS earlier this year. Where will the extra 13,000 people required to fill Spotless for the Prelim actually come from? Keep in mind only about 10,000 Swans members (who live in Sydney) paid for a ticket to go to Spotless this year, and finals tickets cost more. Dogs fans live in Melbourne and are amongst the poorest in the comp. A whole bunch of GWS members who pay very little for their home and away game memberships won't go because of the cost of a prelim ticket. I can only think of one AFL game ever in Sydney that has truly sold out. It was a H & A game against Geelong in 1996. That is one game in the history of the code in Sydney.Comment

As glad as I am that the hawks are gone, the terrible bitter taste of GWS being one step away from the GF has soured it for me.
Part of me wants the dogs to win the other part of me wants GWS to flog them by 10 goals so anger and hatred towards the AFL for bringing in a plastic side at the expense of traditional clubs is massive. I want the AFL to suffer with low crowds for years because of GWS.
Plus if we do go through to the GF I dont fancy our chances against neither side, both play a similar run and carry game which we cant counter.Comment

There looked to be plenty of blue, red and white at the MCG on Friday night.

The Dogs play a very contested ball game similar to us, not the Giants. I would much prefer to beat the Giants in the GF. Either way, if we make it, I think most neutrals will not be wanting a Swans win."Fortunately, this is the internet, so knowing nothing is no obstacle to having an opinion!." The stereotype of Dogs supporters being poor is just wrong. Anyway...
My cousins have booked their flights and accommodation and are just hoping they can get tickets. I tried to reassure them today that they should be fine.
Another cousin isn't happy because her friend has scheduled her wedding on Saturday. I'm sure her phone will be close by!

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I think we can put to rest the theory that he didn't want to come to the swans .
This from a recent realfooty article:
"I wasn't too concerned about where I ended up. If I had have ended up in Sydney that would've been great to continue the family tradition"Comment

I don't think too many said he didn't want to go to the Swans. But his preference seemed to be a Melbourne club, closer to family. The recent article on the afl website would support thisComment
