And even though I'm usually a somewhat laid back person, if I feel myself getting worked up about something, then I think that it's worth asking myself, if me getting tense, is actually going to change the situation for the better in any way.
+1 on all counts, though there is this feeling I have that maybe this golden era should have delivered greater results. 18 finals appearances from the past 21 seasons for 2 premierships to date. Hopefully that will soon become 3.
And speaking of numbers isn't it time for 09183305 to update his/her username to 0918330512, or is he/she just waiting until this time next week so that it can be updated to 0918330151216?
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

I've long thought that an official, public explanation for the horror of 2014 was...well, there wasn't one really, was there?

This is the closest I've seen to an admission of complacency and poor mental attitude:

AFL grand final 2016: Luke Parker adamant Sydney Swans have learnt lessons of 2014

I only mention it because I'm sure it won't happen again

Yes, I've been meaning to drag out the big win against North in the 2014 prelim: just to see if it was a case of them being poor and lulling us into an inflated view of our own destiny.

Yes, I strongly suspect that it will be three after Saturday. But even two, is two more than I really expected to see, when I first started following the Swans, way back in back in the dark days of the early nineties.

I agree and I congratulate the foresight of anyone who starting supporting the swans in the early nineties.
26 losses in a row , wow you deserve to enjoy the success since

I suspect that there may have been something slightly odd going on subconsciously at the time. Being brought up mainly on the northern beaches of Sydney, rugby league was the game to follow as a youngster. Me and my brother chose to follow the local team, Manly; even though my father played a few games for Norths and pretty well every other relative followed Norths. So I tend to think that there might have been some sort of deep down guilt, that drew me to follow a team as crap as the Swans of that era. Or maybe there was a bit of idle curiosity, as to what it would be like, to follow a team that seemed to be as historically hopeless as Norths?
Interestingly, when they kicked Norths out of the comp, the old man decided that he could no longer be bothered with league and is now a keen Swans supporter.

I joined in 1994 buoyed with the success of our incredible 1993 season. I'd been going to games since the beginning and felt I'd finally earned the right to have my own seat. When we went to the 20 year member thing I was slightly surprised to see that there were other people there. I did think at the function maybe the club could have shouted me a beer, but you can't everything can you?

I feel quietly confident re Saturday.

The Doggies yesterday looked liked a bunch of premature celebrators to me

I have a hunch that this will be the Dogs' version of 1996. Celebrations after a close win with a kick for a point after the siren to end a long drought of Grand Final appearances, followed by a letdown the following week.

If this season has shown nothing else, it's that any team, on its day, can knock off any other team in such an even season, & there wasn't much between 1st & 7th ... the Swans just have to make Saturdaty their day!

Yes i am not taking anything for granted. Sure they finished 7th and most years the 7th ranked side are finals fodder are a far cry from the quality of minor premiers but they have beaten us already and finished only 2 games behind.

I was quietly confident in 2014. I was quietly confident v GWS. Heck, i was quietly confident v Richmond. We are deserved favourites at $1.62 and have had 2 brilliant quarters of footy this finals series... but im still very nervous
