Lots of night games, probably the best for the club cash wise (although not that great for me traveling from Newcastle, prefer day time games)

Wow lots of Friday night and a couple of Thursday night games, good result!
As a Queenslander at least one Brisbane/GC game would've been niceComment

Is it just me that doesn't really like the fact that we are the team against which the Dogs will unfurl their flag?
We had to sit through the pain of losing to them in the grand final, and media wankery in the lead up and then followed, and now are then forced to sit through it all again. Its one game that is definitely off my list of games to go to next year, for that reason alone. Its not that I have anything against the Dogs or the like, but I think it is harsh on Swans fans to be honest - just a bit of 'rubbing our nose in it' really.
Has it happened much in history (at least during AFL days with a lot more clubs) that the losing Grand Finalist is the opponent for the 'flag unfurling'?Comment

It's a revenue driven fixture. 10 Thursday and Friday night games seems excessive for one club given these are quite sought after. Probably good for the us as a club because of the exposure but, sadly, we won't be the biggest winners cash wise because 6/10 games are away. Personally I prefer day and twilight fixtures because they are better for the kids.
Scott H - strange choice of preferred home games to attend, with a Queensland bias - is that where you are based? I'm looking forward to the Derby matches, Pride match, GF rematch, Collingwood, maybe Essendon and the Sir Doug Nicholls round (which is it?). Usually I am girding myself for the Hawks match but feel less revved up at the prospect next year right now.
Less travel than usual. Only one trip to each of Perth and Adelaide and none to Tassie or Queensland.
Overall seems a pretty good fixture at first blush. Can't complain.Last edited by bloodspirit; 27 October 2016, 09:37 AM.All opinions are not equal. The second thing I looked for was who do we play twice. It's Dogs, Giants, Hawks, Blues and Saints. Seems a tough draw, but I guess that it's only to be expected.Comment

Nice to see more Melbourne games for the Vic based fans.
I wish thete were more afternoon home games in Sydney though.Chillin' with the strange QuarksComment

I think there is a real risk that Hawthorn could tumble down the ladder next year. They won't be the Hawthorn we have thought of the past few years. All opinions are not equal. I know Jenny (I think) occasionally comes on here to monitor the chat etc - can I just really really really register my appreciation to the club and also the AFL for the large number of Melbourne and victorian games. I've been moaning about it for years but i really really want to register my gratitudeComment

But I wouldn't hold my breath that its not just a 'fixturing quirk' - in particular as we have no games in Queensland next year (feel sorry for the decent multitude of swans fans up there) and only 1 game in Adelaide and Perth (not that that is unusual).
