Why can't they just bounce (throw-up) the ball at the top of the goal square instead of awarding a free-kick?

Still a worse result than a point (with potential for a goal still there) but not as drastic or potentially game-changing as kicking it for them with a free kick from point-blank range.

P.S. Sorry if this has already been suggested/discussed.
    Yeah, I'm with you there.

As far as the game being ununpirable, maybe it would be best to have a couple of umps roaming the ground with earpieces in while 5 or 6 others watch the game and notify the on field umps of frees etc

When attending a match, I listen to the umpires microphones via sports ears. It is really interesting to pick up a lot of the decisions (ie what the free was for), some of the interactions with players and the umpires interacting with each other. For instance, after the first swans goal, one umpire broadcast to look out as the "swans are going to be aggressive". I'm not sure what rule that's breaking, but it certainly painted us in an undesirable light.

That's a fu**ing deplorable attitude to take into a match and shows premeditated prejudice if you ask me!

yes it could easily be interpreted as 'Look out! The Swans really want to win this one!'

One of the Western Bulldog forwards (Stringer I think) had a real whinge early regarding something off the ball early against Mills.

You heard this while listening "to the umpires microphones via sports ears" ?

Thought the question was obvious - and you replied "yes".

Based on your reply - must try & get access to sports ears - would be very interesting.

I thought all sides come out aggressive at the first bounce.

I still can't believe we lost the 4th qtr last weekend against the Dogs

Up by a few points with 10 to go

Reid and bud missed goals as well reaching the lead.......Reid right in front

Could have been 15 pt lead with 10mins to go

                          Ahhhhhhh

Yes, I was seriously deflated when Reid missed that one from virtually dead in front, the pessimist in me said the Dogs will get the next goal now and so it was......and gone with it, our momentum.

Gee we miss Heeney's hardness, agility and skill.

Sorry - I thought you were getting at something else.

I really like listening to them at the game and knowing what is going on at the coalface.

Knowing in advance when a ball is about to be payed deliberate out of bounds etc is great.

The club should be recording these microphones as it could be a great coaching tool or used in please explains to the umpiring departments.
