Reminiscing - and not in a good way

I was able to watch the clip, and more objectively than I suspected I would be. I think the "in the back" non-frees had our guys dropping their knees for the most part and I can live with them. Similarly for the "below the knees" frees, with the clear exception of the one on Hanners. The rest are almost universally dreadful decisions. Throws, non-calls, taking players out of marking contests etc. It was a poorly officiated game and one that we may well have won had it been fairly umpired. Note that by fairly I don't meant that would have benefited from every call, just that it was consistent and even.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

It was so telling when the AFL came out and said the officiating was sub-par. In their language that was the equivalent of them admitting it was shameful, bordering on corrupt.
Although watching that actually softens my view about the ones we weren't paid - the majority I would be quite happy to be called play-on in a GF. Even a couple of the sliding / taking the legs ones I think were borderline at best - with Papley and Hewett's the contact seemed on or just above the knee.
The totally inexplicable thing is that the whole 'put the whistle away' approach only went one way. Rampe's HTB was a disgrace, literally the ump created a non-existent reason to pay that. But then you look at all the other cases where Bulldogs players were actually tackled without disposing of it effectively, without penalty.
I remember clearly Hunter's throw over his head (to Picken for his snap goal) which was about twice as obvious as the one Parker was pinged for last Friday night.Comment

Brilliant video.!!! Thanks for having the courage to compile this. You also missed Liberatore's throwing the ball, which happened about three times. Can someone tell me how the Best AFL umpires in Australia can be accused of Mis Management??? It is either incompetence or Corruption, take your pick. As Long and Gil M and his wife cheating brigands rule the AFL, you will never see a Swans side win the Premiership. I know people will not what to hear this but it is true. Ha - I'm annoyed with the 1996 GF, where Craig O'Brien wasn't paid a free for too high just before half time.
He would have kicked the goal to put us 8 goals up, but North took it down the ground to kick a goal and reduce the margin.
We know what happened from there...
It's been a bloody conspiracy against us since 1945.. the famous Blood Bath....spriteComment

As annoying as it is that the umps are so easily influenced by the flavour of the day, the footy media scrum are such sycophantic boosters, and the AFL
hierarchy an old boys club, it's kinda hard to buy into the whole conspiracy thing.
As that implies a level of organisation and intelligence from a bunch of people that probably aren't really the sharpest tools in the shed.Comment

It was a hugely tight, very congested, contested style of football all day. Poor individual umpiring decisions are always galling, especially when a group of them happen in the same game - but the clear differential between the two teams was what I can not understand, and no one has been able to mount a reasonable defence in response to. Such a differential suggests we were vastly more ill disciplined/breaking the rules than the Dogs. My general recollection of the day suggested nothing of the sort.
A free kick count that more closely reflected the nature of the vast majority of the game (Especially as a few of our frees came very late in the game) and one can only wonder what the result might have been."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

For what its worth, I still remember Dunkley getting kicked in the face by Carey. Not paying a free kick at least (Should have been reported) was again beyond belief.Comment
