If McVeigh is not playing for us next year then I wouldn't be surprised to see Mills move into that QB role in the backline (apologies for the Matt80 clich?) but it would still free up a spot in the backline.
Smith Reg Rampe
Mills Melican Newman
+ Aliir as a sweeper
If McVeigh stays it potentially blocks the development of a player coming through. And it probably costs the club an extra $100,000 - 150,000 in cap space because even at a cut price salary he'll still be on vastly more than a draftee.
I don't think there is too much doubt that McVeigh could still add value on the field next year but if I had to lay money on where he plays next year it would be somewhere else. Sure Jared would understand if that was the case

I'm not overly disappointed. I can see the logic in going with Sinclair as he has an extra string to his bow. Throw him forward and he can take a good contested mark and is a genuine avenue for goal. And he provides cover down there is Sammy has to go down back. Effectively gives us injury cover down the entire spine.Comment

Not sure if wearing a cap backwards has any significance, but during pre-season, certain players donned a fluro cap for some drills that signalled they weren't in full contact mode. Naismith wearing the cap suggests his body may not yet be fully right.Comment

I think it's more likely that his haircut is not fully right, and he has finally realised. I know he's a ruckman, but his visits to the salon this season have yielded some appalling results.

No I blame the umpires in the Geelong preliminary final. If the umpire had paid the mark, (or was it a free?), in our forward line towards the end of the first quarter, then the ball wouldn't have come out and then Allir wouldn't have done his knee!! Who knows what would have happened the week after if he had played ????.Comment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Still reckon Naismith will play in seniors' first final. No yet sold on Tippett as his partner. Sinclair more than handy and gives 110 per cent effort each time. Also more physically sound.Comment
