The fact Hannebery and Parker won't be top 5 is an indication of why this wasn't a good year.

    1. Franklin
    2. Grundy
    3. Kennedy
    4. Llyod
    5. Heeney

Of all our players, I thought Lloyd will 'improve' this year.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

The lighting at the dinner (or at least how it's showing up on the stream) isn't doing the speakers any favours. At first I thought it was Adam Spencer auditioning for a role as a kryptonite infested Superman enemy but the second speaker seems inflicted with the same ailment.

I think Adam Spencer looks like Jarrad McVeigh, or maybe it's the other way round. I'm glad Henry Playfair and Josh Francou left the club. We had far too many people at the club that resembled Macca.

It's pretty ordinary coverage. Each year they show less and less of what those at the dinner can see. I don't understand why they can't stream the highlights of each game that are clearly being shown at the venue. Even more irritating is that they don't show the screen with the votes so it's impossible to see how players are going. In past years they've at least read out the top handful of vote getters for each game. I've used it to keep a running tally of the scores of the favourites.

Yeah, they read out the top 10 but not the votes they were on, so hard to see how close it was. A name I did note near the top was Hewett. I think he was in 4th after 9 rounds.

Rising Star: Melican - not a surprise, especially after they announced there is an age limit (U22) which means that Newman wasn't in the running.

Best clubman: Callum Sinclair. He goes above and beyond all other players in his community work and his enthusiasm at club and sponsor functions. It's nice that they've explained what's qualified him for an award that often is non-transparent. I imagine his enthusiasm and determination to improve is also appreciated around the club.

Leaderboard after 18 rounds. Lloyd by 10 over Buddy!

While I agree that the coverage is a little ordinary given we can't see the round-by-round voting, I still really enjoy this presentation evening. Am generally very proud to see each player get up to accept their awards and the warmth in the room is always palpable.

Much deserved Rising Star Award to Lewis Melican - superb year and massive career ahead. Interesting Blakey suggested he was injured 'for the finals', despite being an emergency for the Geelong game. Also proud of Callum Sinclair's Best Clubman Award, and Buddy seemed in great form accepting the Coleman Medal. He looked amused to be coached by Johnson next year and was very complimentary of Kirk.

Jake Lloyd is doing very well to be leading the BSM count despite missing most of the Hawthorn game. He'll run Buddy and Kennedy close.

Lloyd no surprise. Consistently one of our best and few 'off' games.

Reg is the one I over-estimated. He's barely hanging onto a top 10 spot. Smith is also missing from the top 10. Remarkable given how our defence performed over most of the season, but especially after round 6.

Those who predicted a top 10 finish for Heeney look like they'll be correct.

The one who I most underestimated was Papley. I probably discounted him based on him missing the start of the season. But clearly the coaches really rate the work he did in the forward line this year.

Even though Lloyd is leading after round 18, I think it's down to a race in two between Franklin and Kennedy. They both had huge games towards the end of the season, while Lloyd was generally his normal steady self. Kennedy still has a few missed games to come, so I think Buddy will probably finish on top.

Maybe they figure the paying customers at the dinner deserve to see more than the internet watchers. I don't agree, but it's possible.

Happy to see that the first 2 winners of Ludwig's Future Star award, Lloyd and Hewett, are doing so well. Can't wait to see Abe Davis up on stage.
