    I agree.

I also like that there you can still hear the word ?south? in our old song.

    Bring back the original

So long as I can still play the air banjo....
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

At Etihad they played the new version of the song when the team ran out and I wasn't a fan. It just didn't sound right but I'm probably more used to the old one.

I didn't notice after the game because I was too excited after the win!!

Pretty sure they played the new version at both games at the SCG, and also over at Optus in round 1. I guess the Swans have adopted the new version as their "official" version.

Of all the re-recordings, I think the Swans sounds least changed. Some of the others seem to have quite different tempi, while the addition of syncopated brass to pretty much all of them is quite prominent. Ours already had quite a bit, so it doesn't sound that alien.

Yep, they've been playing the new version at every game.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

Sweet Caroline was played at most commonwealth games events. Just sayin'.

Heard the new version at the Giants game. I thought it was different enough to be noticeable, but not so different as to bother me. It's a bit less baritone and a bit more triumphant. More like a crowd singing.

Only issue is I've been telling the kids for years "what though, not whether!" and now it is whether

It will always be "what though" to me. It's delightfully quaint.

Imagine the outrage if they removed "girt by sea" from the national anthem??

Pretty much the same thing to me.

I think it is unfair that Girt gets a guernsey but Tilly, in verse two, doesn't.

When gallant Cook from Albion sail'd,
                    To trace wide oceans o'er,
True British courage bore him on,
Till he landed on our shore.

Not wanting to get off topic, I also prefer "what though".
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
