    I hope your right AG.

I will be there cheering the Bloods on and hoping like hell we are not the team from last Saturday (attitude).

Talk of omitting Jones is ridiculous. He had one bad game.
Cameron deserves another chance. The whole team was poor last week.
Newman isnt a good fit for our defensive structure. He isn't defensive/accountable enough. O'Riordon is looking good.
Marsh tries hard but just doesn't cut it. He's a bit like Robinson in that respect.

      Out : Newman, Marsh.
      In : Grundy, Dawson.

They’re pretty much opinions we toss around here (usually no right or wrong), but I’d say - almost since he re-signed - Zac hasn’t had many great games. He is pretty quick of leg, but he turns the ball over a lot with his disposal. When by hand, they are frequently quick but dinky short ones to a teammate under similar pressure. He often carries it a bit too far (either getting caught with it or by the time he releases there are no decent free options left, so he bombs long and it all too often rebounds). He often displays almost uncontrolled aggression, giving away free kicks at crucial times. And he’s just damn pouty. Each time he give away a free he’s shaking his head and mothing off at the umpire who he always seems to be in the wrong. He just looks like a petulant little child, caught with his hand in the cookie jar - but believing that the cookies were his to steal.

One bad game? Yes. But in my opinion, a lot of very ordinary ones too.

Yes, he does, but the time to get games into him was, IMO, earlier. Having a non-contributor at this time of the year (in an undermanned side, when we can least afford to carry it) is dead weight. He’s been playing well in the NEAFL for some time. Giving him senior experience in a stronger (less injury hampered) side would have been more beneficial than now.

I agree. I'm astounded that people, and possibly Horse, could view him as being washed up. He's still one of our most important players if you ask me even if the old fashioned stay at home forwards are a dying breed.

So you want Phil Collins come into the team? Could be entertaining but don’t think that will fix the mid field issues.

It wouldn't even fix the cheer squad drumming.

No one turns it over quite like hanneberry and Jones. That's all I'll say. They're great players which makes it all the more frustrating

I don't think we could afford to drop Jones as even with his brain fades and turnovers we've got nobody else like him. It is relevant though when we get to contact negotiations with him, he's simply not a reliable enough performer to throw big $'s at

On a separate note, why isn't Towers getting a look in? We've generally looked our best over the last 2 seasons with him as 2nd ruck

However, I don't think he's alone in this. Our attacking structure in the front half of the ground is poor. It's almost like we're so used to defending (and practice makes perfect) we don't know what to do when we have the ball in space. - hence all the turnovers.
                        Agree.

There have been a number of examples in the past couple of weeks of midfielders taking the game on and having no open targets—Jones, Florent beating and evading opponents, but being caught with ball in hand.

But I think that last week the forward structure was tipped out of balance by the selection of Cameron, so that we were top heavy: over the past few weeks, even in the loses, we were working towards 1) McCartin as FF bringing ball to ground for the smalls to rove and 2) finding alternative routes to goal. The Suns responded by launching defensive fists at incoming balls, which took the smalls out of the equation, and we reverted to 'kick it long to Buddy' (who should be playing on the wing, not as key forward).

After a few days of reflection, I'm not so upset by the loss, as terrible as it was. I am putting it down to growing pains as we transition to a faster game. What was missing, I think, was a cool head to take the pace off the game as it started to get away from us. Whenever we got the ball, it felt that we were rushing and either kicking to manned up targets, or pushing handballs and yielding turnovers.

Want to say how happy I am about the INs this week: Grundy will hopefully steady the ship and Dawson provide a target plus possibly a brief cameo onball.

It’s like RWO are in charge of selection atm

I think he goes alright down back. Problems in the middle and up front came when they dropped Gabriel. Big mistake.

                              Don't flatter ourselves!!

Great to have Reg back... should never have been dropped in the first instance.

Hope they all come out firing. We REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need to win this one.
A bit of percentage would be nice too.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
