Agree on Chamberlain.....good decision maker now, has improved a lot on past years.

A weird thing I have noticed in recent weeks is the 'putting on a pedestal' of Stevic by the Seven commentary team. Brayshaw was fawning over him two rounds ago and they were at it again during the last round......"one of the best in the business" etc. They sure see it differently.....perhaps it's because he has 'vic' in his name.

Chamberlain is still prone to sometimes making himself more visible than any umpire should be by pulling weird frees out of his kit bag. But he's one of the few that doesn't seem overly affected by crowd noise or to have any apparent biases towards one team or another.

I agree. Probably because his ego is so big that he doesn't GAF what people think about him.

I found this quite amusing:

You might think that Walls was talking about Carlton's performance, but no.

Carlton supporters are embarrassed by their away strip. I suppose if they won the premiership in that jumper they couldn't face anyone for a year. It's clearly Carlton's most pressing problem at the moment.

Personally I like the silver away strip. I was thinking of ordering one to use as a cycling top, but I decided against it, because I didn't want to embarrass any local farmers who might be Carlton supporters. I wouldn't want to be responsible for a farmer drowning himself in a rice paddy out of shame.

Walls’ stupidity was matched/surpassed by Kennett’s declaration that Hawthorn would never again wear a white away jumper - or in fact any away jumper. According to him brown & gold doesn’t conflict with any other team’s colours so they will wear their standard jumpers for all matches except the indigenous round and their Tasmanian cancer-charity supporting jumper.

On that logic Swans could declare the same thing. No other team has a red jumper. (Suns’ colour is pretty close but why should commonsense come into the discussion if we follow Kennett’s lead.)

It certainly makes it easier to distinguish between two teams, both of which have dark colours as their standard strip, if the away team wears a predominately white jumper.

Agree, one of the side benefits of supporting the Swans is that they are easy on the eye!

I personally like the idea of variant jumpers - it just adds visual interest to a team's kit.

OTOH, Kennett and Walls make some good points. Hawthorn's colours *are* difficult to confuse with any other team, and I don't see why they shouldn't play in them every week if they want to. And I really am not a huge fan of Carlton's current away strip. (What was wrong with the blue on all-white? It was nice). What is it about the AFL that makes people say intelligent things in such a belligerent way?

Speaking of media personalities, I thought the commentary team for the game against Melbourne was surprisingly good. BT isn't that bad when he's surrounded by some good commentators - he was asking them interesting questions and both Bartel and Watson I think are good (particularly Bartel).

This is not footy related but it's sport and it's general and I just have to get it off my chest.....

The jury in the Ben Stokes case must have all been cricket fans keen to see him back in the team! FFS! How he got found not guilty on the available evidence, both on film and given in the trial, is beyond me.....

Does England not have the same attitude as us toward thuggery and coward punching? David Hookes must be turning in his grave......

No one should get off scot free for what he did, regardless of the motive. Sets a shocking precedent.
